E. Coventry takes the Oaths.

This Day Gilbert Earl of Coventry took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Queen's Answer to Address.

The Lord Chancellor reported, "That he, with the House, did Yesterday present to Her Majesty their humble Address; and that Her Majesty was pleased to return the following most Gracious Answer; (videlicet,)

"My Lords,

"I return you My most hearty Thanks, for your very affectionate Address.

"You, who are nearest to the Throne, will first of all My Subjects feel the evil Consequences of any Diminution of the Regal Dignity.

"It is a great Comfort to Me, that I have your Assurance of Support.

"Depend upon it, I will never give Way to the least Attempt, either on the just Authority of the Crown, or on your Rights and Privileges."

Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Address of this House presented to Her Majesty Yesterday, and Her Majesty's most Gracious Answer thereunto, be forthwith printed and published.

Morphew and Barber examined, about the Pamphlet called The Public Spirit of the Whighs, &:

John Morphew, in Custody of the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, was brought to the Bar, and examined touching the Pamphlet, mentioned to be printed for him, intituled, "The Public Spirit of the Whighs, &c."

Feels, Hattisley, et al. to attend about it:

Also John Barber, in the same Custody, for being concerned in the printing and publishing of the said Pamphlet, was brought to the Bar, and examined also, in relation thereunto.

Whereupon the following Orders were made:

"Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Elizabeth Fells Servant to the said John Morphew, and Timothy Hattisley a Boy employed by him, do attend this House To-morrow, at Twelve a Clock."

"Ordered, That Richard Winter, William Scot, John Wright, Freeman Collins, and John Plowright, Journeymen to the said John Barber, and George Cotton and Edward Foulkes his Apprentices, do also attend this House To-morrow, at Twelve a Clock."

Morphew and Barber to be kept asunder.

"Ordered, That the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, do take Care that the said John Morphew and John Barber, in his Custody, be kept asunder; and that he do not permit any or either of their said Servants to have Access to them."

Lockhart versus Cheisley et al.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of George Lockhart of Carnwath Esquire; complaining of an Interlocutor of the Lords of Council and Session in Scotland, of the One and Twentieth of January last, and the Affirmance thereof, on the Behalf of John Cheisley of Kerswell Writer in Edinburgh, Margaret Pow Relict of William Montgomery of M'biehill, William Montgomery Son and Heir of the said William Montgomery, Captain Cheisley Son and Heir to Sir Robert Cheisley of Bonnington, John Baillie of Walston, and William Bertram the Younger of Nisbet, and of several Orders, whereby the Appellant is excluded from a Preference to receive his just Debt; and praying, "That the said Interlocutor and Orders may be reversed:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said John Cheisley and the others abovementioned may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and shall and are hereby required to put in their Answer or respective Answers thereunto, in Writing, on or before Friday the Second Day of April next, at Eleven a Clock.
