This Day John Lord Bishop of London took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Pitt versus Aston.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Samuel Pitt; complaining of a Decree of the Court of Chancery, made in Hillary Term, 11* Annæ Reginæ, on the Behalf of Edward Aston and his Wife; and praying, "That the same may be rectified:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Edward Aston may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and shall and is hereby required to put in his Answer thereunto, in Writing, on or before Friday the Second Day of April next, at Eleven a Clock.

Scot versus Magistrates of Montrose.

Whereas a Petition and Appeal of John Scot, of Hedderwick, Esquire, was, on the Fifteenth Instant, presented to the House, and read; complaining of an Interlocutor, or Decree, of the Lords Commissioners for Plantation of Kirks, and Valuation of Tithes, of the Second of July last; and from a Sentence or Decree of the said Lords, on the Eleventh of February following, on Behalf of the Magistrates of Montrose; and praying, "That the same may be reversed;" and a Debate arising in relation thereunto, the same was then adjourned: The House being this Day moved, "That the said Appeal may be proceeded on:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Magistrates of Montrose may have a Copy thereof; and shall and are hereby required to put in their Answer or respective Answers thereunto, in Writing, on or before Friday the Twenty-third Day of April next, at Eleven a Clock.

Slaney versus Slaney et al.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Moreton Slaney Gentleman, Eldest Son and Heir of Robert Slaney, deceased, by Anne his Wife, Daughter of Elizabeth Moreton Widow, deceased, from a Decree, or Order of Dismission, made by the Master of the Rolls, the Twentysecond Day of February in the Tenth Year of Her Majesty's Reign, on the Behalf of Robert Slaney Esquire, Dorothy Scruton, Robert Moreton and Elizabeth his Wife; which said Robert Slaney and Elizabeth Moreton were Two other of the Children of the said Robert Slaney, deceased, by the said Anne; praying Relief, according to Justice and Equity:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Robert Slaney, Robert Moreton, and Dorothy Scruton, may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and shall and are hereby required to put in their Answer or respective Answers thereunto, in Writing, on or before Friday the Second Day of April next, at Eleven a Clock.

Russell versus Cochran.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Michael Russell, of London, Merchant, complaining of an Interlocutory Sentence, or Decree, of the Lords of Council and Session in Scotland, of the 24th of July 1712, and the Affirmance thereof the 24th of June 1713, on the Behalf of John Cochran, of Waterside; and praying, "That the same may be reversed, and the Petitioner relieved:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said John Cochran may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and shall and is hereby required to put in his Answer thereunto, in Writing, on or before Friday the Sixteenth Day of April next, at Eleven a Clock.

Grove et al. versus Hooke.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Thomas Grove and Elizabeth his Wife, William Hammond, William Dyer and Anne his Wife, Thomas Grove the Younger, John Hammond the Younger, and William Dyer the Younger, from a Decree, or Decretal Order, made in the Court of Chancery, the Twentieth Day of November last, in a Cause wherein Dame Hester Hook, Widow and Relict of Sir Hele Hook Baronet, was Plaintiff; and the Petitioners and Mary late Wife of the said William Hammond were Defendants, et e` contra; praying, "That the said Decree may be reversed, and the Petitioners relieved:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Dame Hester Hook may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and shall and is hereby required to put in her Answer thereunto, in Writing, on or before Friday the Second Day of April next, at Eleven a Clock.

Smith's Bill.

After reading, and considering, the Report of the Judges, to whom was referred the Petition of Margaret Smith Widow; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for the Purposes in the Petition mentioned:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill, pursuant to the said Report.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for vesting the Lease of the Rectory of Chesterfield, in the County of Derby, in Trustees, to be sold, for the Payment of the Debts of George Smith Esquire, deceased, and for making Provision for his Daughter."

Tyrwhit's Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of Sir John Tyrwhit Baronet; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, to discharge his Estate in the County of Leicester from the Entail thereof; and for vesting the same in him in Fee, upon settling an Estate in the County of Lincoln, of a greater Revenue, to the same Uses as the Estate in Leicestershire is now limited:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the said Petition shall be, and is hereby, referred to the Lord Chief Justice of the Court of Queen's Bench and Sir Littleton Powys One of Her Majesty's Justices of the same Court; who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands; and whether all Parties that may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

Queen's Answer to Addresses for Papers, &c.

The Lord Treasurer acquainted the House, "That the Lords with White Staves had (according to Order) presented to Her Majesty the several Addresses of this House of Wednesday last; and that Her Majesty had been pleased to give Directions, that all the Papers desired by the said Addresses should be laid before the House, as soon as they can be got ready."

The Order of the Day being read, for taking into farther Consideration Her Majesty's most Gracious Speech:

Addresses for Letters, &c. to E. Peterborow;

Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That an humble Address be presented to Her Majesty, "That Her Majesty will be graciously pleased to order all Letters and Instructions from Her Majesty, to the Earl of Peterborow, or any of Her Majesty's Ministers in Catalonia, after the Taking of Barcelona, to be laid before this House."

for Articles of Limerick and Gallaway;

Ordered, That an humble Address be presented to Her Majesty, "That Her Majesty will be likewise pleased to order the Articles of Limerick and Gallway, or authentic Copies thereof, to be laid before this House."

and for Licenses and Pardons to Persons who have served against Her Majesty.

Ordered, That an humble Address be presented to Her Majesty, "That Her Majesty will be likewise pleased to order an Account to be laid before this House, of what Licenses have been granted, since Her Majesty's Accession to the Crown, for any Person or Persons, who have served in Arms against Her Majesty, to return into Her Majesty's Dominions; and of what Pardons have been granted to such Persons."

Ordered, That the said Addresses be presented to Her Majesty by the Lords with White Staves.

State of the Navy, of Line of Battle Ships.

Ordered, That the Commissioners of the Admiralty do lay before this House a State of the Navy, of the Ships from Fifty Guns and upwards; and the State of those Ships, as to their Repairs, in respect to their Hulls, Masts, Yards, and Cordage; and what Stores there are for those Ships for Six Months.

Queen's Speech to be considered.

Then it being moved, "That Her Majesty's most Gracious Speech be taken into farther Consideration on Monday next;"

And Debate thereupon:

The Question was put, "Whether the farther Consideration of Her Majesty's most Gracious Speech shall be adjourned to Monday next?"

It was Resolved in the Negative.

Ordered, That, on Wednesday Sevennight, this House will take into farther Consideration Her Majesty's most Gracious Speech.
