Grievances of Inns.

THE Lord Chamberlain, being the first of the Committees of the Grievances of the Patent of Inns, declared, That whereas it was Ordered Yesterday, That the Parties, whose Examinations are to be taken upon Oath, should be sworn in open Court, it appeared, that these Gentlemen (undernamed), whose Testimony is very necessary, are Members of the Lower House. He desired a Message to be first sent, with great Respect, to the Lower House, before they be sworn.

Sir Francis Goodwyn, Knight.

Richard Weston, Esquire.

Message about swearing some of the Commons Witnesses.

The Message sent to the Lower House, by Mr. Attorney General and Sir William Bird:

That the Lords Committees of the Grievances (complained of) by the Commons do find, that the Testimony of these Gentlemen (abovenamed), being Members of that House, are fit to be taken upon Oath: in good Respect to the House of the Commons, have thought good first to commend the same to their Consideration; with this, that they will not send for them to be sworn, as they are Members of that House; neither would they desire to have their Testimony upon Oath (which is so necessary to the expediting of this Business), if they could otherwise make Proof thereof.

Answer returned,

Answer.

That it is a Matter of great and weighty Consequence. They will take it into their Consideration, and return Answer by Messengers of their own.

Reynolds and Wright.

Richard Reynoldes and Robert Wright (committed to The Fleet for their contemptuous Breach of the Previleges of this High Court) were brought to the Bar; and, upon their Knees, acknowledged their Offence, humbly desiring to be discharged of their Imprisonment.

Whereupon it was Ordered, That they should be discharged out of Prison, upon Repayment of the Money which they extorted from John Robinson, whom they arrested. (Vide antea, die Lunæ, 27 Februarii.)

Inns.
