Message to the H. C. for Conference touching the Petition about Religion.

MESSAGE sent to the Commons, by Mr. Attorney General and Mr. Doctor Eden:

That the Lords desire a Conference between the former Committees, touching the Petition for Religion, which they sent up Yesterday; the Conference to be at Three this Afternoon, in the Painted Chamber.

E. of Suffolk's Privilege. Hain's Arrest.

The Lord Bishop of Co. et Lich. remembered the Petition of Thomas Haine, which, on the 11th of July last, was referred to the Examination of the Lords Sub-committees for Privileges, etc. at this Access; and, for that some of those Lords were absent, these were added: videlicet, the Earl of Essex and the Earl of Dorsett. And their Lordships agreed to meet thereon this Afternoon.

Captives of Algiers.

The Lord Bishop of London moved, That those Lords, who were appointed the 5th of this August to take the Account of the Money collected for Algiers, may take the Account likewise of the Money to be collected for London and the Out Parishes.

Committee to review the Order for a Collection.

Whereupon a Committee was appointed to review the Order, made the 6th of this August, for the said Collection; for that the same is to be inserted in the Brief; and to see that it provides specially for a Distribution for the Out Parishes.

Message to the H. C. concerning the Collection for the Poor in London.

To enable their Committee this Afternoon, at the Meeting, to confer with the Lords, touching a Collection to be made for the Poor of London and the Out Parishes.

Their Committee will meet, enabled, as is desired.

Lords absent at the Fast, to pay double.

It is this Day Ordered, That those Lords that were absent at the General Fast in Westm. (the Second of July), and then paid nothing to the Poor, that now they shall pay double.

Absent Lords to pay to Collections.

It is Ordered, That all Lords who are absent by the King's Licence, and sent their Proxies, shall pay to any Collection here in this House, according as the other Lords present do pay.

Brief for Collection.

The Earl Marshal reported, That the Lords Committees had perused the Brief and Order for Collection for London, etc. and had in some Points altered and amended the same.

Adjourn.
