Duke of Buckingham not to answer the Votes against him in the H. C.

THE Duke of Buckingham signified to the House, That the House of Commons had sent him another Message, That about Ten of the Clock this Morning they will vote certain Matters against him; and that they had given the Messengers Leave to take a Note of them out of their Clerk's Book; and that his Grace might take a Copy of them at large, if he pleased; and that they do expect his Answer this Day, before Ten of the Clock, if he please to send any.

Wherefore he desired to know whether he may send the House of Commons an Answer or no.

And their Lordships declared, That they do not think it fit, that the Duke shall answer in the House of Commons any Thing there, upon the same respects in their former Order contained, dated 28 Martii.

L. Berkley's Privilege.

Lumley's Arrest.

Matthew Frances, Serjeant at Arms, was this Day at the Bar, to answer his Contempt and uncivil Speeches against the Privilege of Parliament, concerning the Arrest of Richard Lumley; and brought these Witnesses to be examined on his Part: videlicet, Henry Lumley, George Belt, John Lucy, and Matthew Bradbury; who being sworn, and they and the Witnesses produced by Richard Lumley examined, and the said Mathew Frances heard what he could say for himself; it was Ordered, That he the said Richard Lumley shall be freed and set at Liberty, without Fees.

And the said Matthew Frances, having craved Pardon of the House for his Contempt, was admonished to carry himself more civilly hereafter to all Men, and especially towards the Parliament and the Peers. And so he was dismissed.

The House called.

This Day the House was called; and the Earl of Somersett's Name moved to be inserted in the List of the Lords, for that he hath his Writ of Summons.

The King will consider of the Petition touching the E. of Arundel.

The Lord Keeper signified to the House, That His Majesty hath taken into Consideration the Petition exhibited by their Lordships (19 Aprilis), concerning the Earl of Arundell, and will return Answer thereunto with all Expedition.

Absent Lords who have not sent Proxies.

Agreed, That the Committee for Privileges shall consider of those Lords who have not sent their Proxies.

Committee for Privileges.

And that all of the Grand Committee for Privileges, etc. shall meet at Two of the Clock this Afternoon. But the Attendance of these Lords of that Committee are to be spared: videlicet, The Lord Treasurer, the Lord President, the Lord Privy Seal, and the Lord Conway, for that the King hath commanded them some other Service.

Adjourn.
