Sir Humphrey Ferrers and Sir Richard Brooke's, &c. Petition touching the Administration of Sir John Packington's Esta e.

The Petition of Sir Humfry Ferrers and Sir Richard Brooke, and their Wives, was read, concerning an Administration of the Goods of Sir John Packington, deceased, granted unto Dame Dorothie Packington, their Wives Mother, by the Prerogative Court of Canterbury. And an Information in the Court of Wards against them on Behalf of young Sir John Packington, His Majesty's Ward.

Order.

Referred to the Committee for Petitions, and Sir Henry Martine, Knight, Judge of the said Prerogative Court, and Mr. Attorney of the Court of Wards, to be present at the Hearing thereof. And Thursday next Week is appointed for the same. And the Parties interested in this Business for the Ward are to have Notice thereof, as they may attend also.

The said Bill (fn. 1) concerning Vincent Lowe was returned to the Commons, and the Bill concerning Apparel was sent down unto the Commons, by Mr. Attorney and Serjeant Bertlett.

E. of Derby's Privilege. Laughton sent for.

Ordered, Abraham Laughton to be sent for by the Serjeant at Arms, forthwith, to answer his Contempt to this House, concerning the Earl of Derbye's Man; and the Witnesses, Nevill Key and Roberte Dobson, are to attend, to prove the same.

Message to the H. C. for both Houses to petition His Majesty to answer the Petition of Right in full Parliament.

That the Lords are resolved to join with the Commons in an humble Suit to His Majesty, That the Petition of Right may be answered in full Parliament. And the Lords have appointed some Lords to wait on the King, to know the Time when His Majesty will admit both Houses for Delivery thereof.

Committee appointed to know when His Majesty will be attended with it.

These Lords were appointed to go to the King, and to know His Majesty's Pleasure herein: videlicet,

Ordered, Nicholas Bowyer to be brought by the Serjeant at Arms, to answer his Scandal on the Earl of North'ton. The Witnesses whom the said Earl shall name are to attend at such Time as the Court shall appoint.

Durrand versus Freeman and Jackson.

The Witnesses of Hugh Durrand are to appear, to be examined on Oath, to prove his Complaint against Foreman and Jackson.

Petition of Right to be delivered this Afternoon to the King.

The Lord President and the other Lords returned from the King, and signified His Majesty's Pleasure to receive this Petition this Afternoon, at Three, in the Banqueting House.

Agreed, The Lord Keeper shall say unto His Majesty at the Delivery hereof,

Ld. Keeper's Introduction at the Delivery of it.

"That he is commanded, by One unanimous Assent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal and Commons, in His Majesty's High Court of Parliament assembled, to present unto His Majesty an humble Petition of Right.

"That the said Petition is in Writing, and therefore he is not to trouble His Majesty with an Additional Preface; but only to desire His Majesty that He may read it; and that it is the humble Desire of both Houses, in respect of the great Weight of the Business, and for the strengthening of it, and for the more Comfort of His Loving People, that His Majesty would be pleased to give His Answer in full Parliament."
