Footnotes

1 In the T.P.N., Nicholas de Knovile also holds Putson. But as his benefice is valued more highly than that of John de Swinfield, it is probable that Swinfield held the preb. later known as Putson Minor. There is a gap in the prebendaries of Putson Minor 1311-1366, though possibly Nicholas de Knovile and Michael de Bereham held Putson Minor as well as Putson Major (q.v.).
2 John Desford succeeded Thomas de Chaundos on his d., to an unnamed preb. (Reg. Mascall p. 169). John Dunstavylle had coll. of Putson Minor on the d. of Desford (Reg. Lacy (Heref.) p. 115).
3 'Putston Major' erroneously in printed reg. (cf. Reg. Myllyng f. 27).
