Ordinance to sequester the Estates of Delinquents in Jersey.
The Earl of Salisbury reported, "That the Committee have taken into Consideration the Ordinance
concerning the sequestering the Estates of Delinquents
in the Isle of Jersey; and they think it fit to offer to the
Consideration [ (fn. *) of the House] some few Alterations;"
which Alterations were read; and the said Ordinance
was Agreed to, with the said Alterations. And it is
Ordered, To be recommended to the House of
Commons, to desire their Concurrence therein.
Major Hamond to be restrained, till he has been tried for killing Major Gray.
The House being informed, "That Major Hamon,
who killed Major Gray at Gloucester, presumed to
appear in the Little Committee Room adjoining to
this House;" which this House resented as an Offence
by him, in regard he hath not undergone the Trial of
the Law for the said Fact. And the House being further
informed, "That the said Major Hamon is under Restraint for the said Fact by the House of Commons:"
It is Ordered, To send to the House of Commons,
to acquaint them of his coming before their Lordships
this Day; and to desire that they would take a Course
that he may not have such Liberty until he hath passed
a Trial for his Offence.
E. of Nottingham's Petition, for the Arrears of his Annuity out of the King's Revenue.
A Petition of the Earl of Nottingham was read, to
desire "some Relief in Payment of his Arrears due
unto him for his Annuity of the King's Revenue:"
Which Petition this House Ordered to be recommended
to the House of Commons.
Committee to prepare Heads for a Conserence about Major Hamond.
Ordered, That the Earl of Kent, the Earl of Stamford, and the Lord North, are appointed to consider and
prepare what is fit to be offered to the House of Commons, concerning Major Hamond; and Justice Bacon is
appointed to assist them.
Upon Report of the Committee, it is Ordered to
be respited until another Time, that so this House may
be further informed concerning the Business.
Bastwick's, Burton's, and Prynn's Cause.
Ordered, That this House will hear the Business
of Dr. Bastwicke, Mr. Burton, and Mr. Prynn, on
Friday next.
Durdant, Clerk of the Works for the Parliament House, allowed Privilege.
Upon reading the Petition of Andrew Durdant, Clerk
of His Majesty's Works for Whitehall, and His Majesty's
House of Parliament; shewing, "That, by a Ticket, he
is commanded to send a Man completely armed, to go
forth with Colonel Harrington; therefore, in regard
of his Attendance upon the Service of the Parliament, he may be exempted, and enjoy the Privilege
of Parliament:"
Hereupon it is Ordered, That the said Andrew
Durdant shall have the same Privilege and Exemption
as Mr. Kynnersly hath.
Answer to The States Ambassadors, concerning their Offer of Mediation.
The Answer to the Ambassadors of The States of The
United Provinces was read, concerning their Overture of
Mediation; and it was to be referred to the Earl of
Pembrooke, the Lord Wharton, and the Lord Willoughby,
to consider of the said Answer, and report their Opinions
to this House.
E. of Carlisle's Petition.
Ordered, That the Petition of the Earl of Carlile,
presented to this House the 4th of October, be recommended to the House of Commons, to desire their Concurrence therein.
Message to the H. C. with it, and the E. of Nottingham's, and the Answer to The States Ambassadors; and with the Ordinance for sequestering Malignants Estates in Jersey.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by
Sir Rob't Rich and Mr. Page:
1. To desire their Concurrence in the Alterations
concerning the Ordinance for sequestering the Estates of
Malignants, in the Isle of Jersey.
2. To deliver them the Paper in Answer to The States
Ambassadors, concerning their Overture of Mediation;
and to desire their Concurrence therein.
3. To deliver to them the Petition of the Earl of
Carlile, with Recommendations, in regard he came in
upon the Declaration of both Kingdoms.
4. To deliver to them the Petition of the Earl of
Nottingham, with Recommendations.
