Sir Rob't Rich and Mr. Page, sent with a Message to
the House of Commons on Monday last, return with this
Answer:
That they will take all the Particulars into Consideration, and return an Answer by Messengers of their own
to them all.
Settling the Church Government.
It was moved, "That this House would send to the
Assembly of Divines; to desire them to hasten the
Government of the Church."
And the Lord Admiral and the Earl of Pembrooke
are hereby appointed to acquaint the Assembly, "That,
in regard of the many Divisions and Distractions
Abroad, this House desires they would hasten the
settling of the Government of the Church."
Message from the H. C. with an Ordinance.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons,
by Mr. Strode and others:
To desire their Lordships Concurrence in an Ordinance concerning putting the County of Midd. into a
Posture.
Answer returned was:

That this House will take this Ordinance into Consideration, and will send an Answer by Messengers of
their own.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons,
by Mr. Greene and others;
To desire their Lordships Concurrence in these Particulars following:
1. An Ordinance for issuing Two Thousand Pounds
out of the Excise, for furnishing the Lord General's
Army with Provisions. (Here enter it.)
Read, and Agreed to.
2. An Ordinance for Five Hundred Pounds to be paid
to Colonel Massy, for his Regiment, out of Haberdashers
Hall. (Here enter.)
Agreed to.
The Answer returned was:

That this House agrees to both Ordinances now
brought up.
Ordered, That a Message be sent To-morrow Morning to the House of Commons, concerning Rutlandshire.
Order for the Commissioner's of Excise to reimburse themselves 2000 l. advanced for Provisions for the Lord General's Army.
"Whereas John Towse Esquire, Alderman of the
City of London, and the rest of the Commissioners of
the Excise and New Impost, have advanced and lent
the Sum of Two Thousand Pounds, for Biscuit, Cheese,
and for Carriage of the same, for Provision of the
Lord General's Army: Be it Ordained, by the Lords
and Commons in Parliament assembled, That the
said Commissioners of Excise shall satisfy and reimburse themselves the said Two Thousand Pounds, together with Interest for the same, after the Rate of
Eight Pounds per Cent. for so long Time as the
same, or any Part thereof, shall be forborn, out of
such Monies as shall be next paid to his Excellency's
Army, or out of such Intervals for Receipts of
Monies as shall arise upon the Office of the Grand
Excise when other Payments shall not fall due, or, for
Want of such Intervals, then as the Reimbursement
thereof shall follow in Course; and shall not, by any
other Order or Ordinance of One or both Houses
of Parliament, be debarred from satisfying themselves
accordingly; and the Receipts of Sir Gilbert Gerrard
Knight, Treasurer at Wars, shall be a sufficient Discharge for the said Two Thousand Pounds to the
Commissioners in that Behalf, which Monies Sir
Gilbert Gerrard is hereby directed and Ordered to
pay the same, upon Accompt, to Commissary Bond,
for the Service aforesaid."
Order for 500 l. to Colonel Massey.
"It is this Day Ordered, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That the Committee of
Lords and Commons for Advance of Monies at Habberdashers Hall do, next after the Monies already assigned upon the Committee, advance upon Accompt
to the Committee for Gloucester, or such as they shall
appoint, Five Hundred Pounds, for the Pay of Colonel Massie's Regiment of Horse."
