That they will send an Answer, by (fn. *) Messengers of
their own, concerning the reprieving of Roger Le
Strange.
Swedish Minister desires a Secret Audience.
The Speaker acquainted this House with a Letter received from Hugo Mouat, Commissioner of the Queen
of Sweden and the Regents of that Kingdom, which
was read; desiring, "That, as soon as conveniently may
be, the Lords will be pleased to grant him a Second
Audience:" And this House considering that this
Commissioner, at his First Audience, said, "He had some
secret Business to communicate to the Parliament,
which was of that Consequence as would receive Opposition, therefore desired there may (fn. †) be Secrecy
in it."
Hereupon this House Ordered, That a Committee
of Lords should be appointed to meet with a Committee
of the House of Commons, to receive what further he
hath to deliver to the Parliament:

Message to the H. C. to appoint a Committee to join them.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by
Mr. Justice Bacon and Mr. Serjeant Whitfield:
To deliver to them the Letter of the Commissioner
from the Queen of Sweden; and to let them know, that
this House hath appointed a Committee of Seven Lords,
to receive what he hath further to deliver to the Parliament from the Queen of Sweden; and that they
would appoint a proportionable Number of their House,
to join with the Lords therein; and that they may give
him Audience To-morrow in the Afternoon, in the
Painted Chamber.
Conference about the Archbishop of Cant.
The [ (fn. ‡) House was adjourned during Pleasure, and
the] Lords went to the Conference concerning the
Archbishop of Canterbury; which being ended, the
House was resumed.
