Answer from the H. C.
Sir Edward Leech and Mr. Page, sent Yesterday to
the House of Commons, return with this Answer:
That they have appointed to give Audience to The
States Ambassadors this Morning: As to the other Particulars, they will send an Answer by Messengers of
their own.
Conference to be had about the Earl of Warwick's surrendering his Commission.
Ordered, To have a Conference with the House of
Commons, to acquaint them with the Desire of the Earl
of Warwicke Yesterday, to have Leave to surrender his
Commission of Lord High Admiral of England; and
that it be delivered at the said Conference as followeth:
Heads for it.
The Earl of Warwicke having Yesterday in the Lords
House tendered, and desires Leave to (fn. *) lay down,
his Commission; the House desired this Conference,
to acquaint the House of Commons therewith, and
that the House of Peers hath accepted thereof; in
which the Concurrence of the House of Commons
is desired, his Commission being derived from the
Authority (fn. †) of both Houses. And this House doth
hereby further declare their Sense, That they look
upon this Action of this Lord, in this Conjuncture of
Time, as a fit Testimony of his Duty to the Houses
of Parliament, under whom he hath so long served
in so eminent an Employment: And the House of
Peers doth desire that his Service and Fortunes may
be taken into Consideration, in such a Way as may,
according to his Merits, express the Acceptance and
Value the Houses have of his Faithfulness and Industry in the Commands and Hazards he hath undergone, to the Public Good of the Kingdom and Safety
of the Parliament.
"And it is further desired by the Earl of Warwicke,
that his Officers, that have been faithful to the Service of the Parliament, may be taken into Consideration."
Message to the H. C. for this Conference.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by
Sir Edward Leech and Mr. Page:
To desire a Conference, in the Painted Chamber, concerning the Commission of the Lord Admiral.

Ordered, That Arthur Stavely shall pay the Money
to Lucy Stavely his Wife, according to the Order of this
House, dated the 20th of February, 1644, by Monday
next; and this Order be served upon him, or lest at
his Lodging.
Answer from the H. C.
The Messengers sent to the House of Commons return
with this Answer:
That they will give a present Conference, as is desired.
L. Wharton, Leave to be absent.
The Lord Wharton hath Leave to be absent for the
Space of Twelve Days, at several Times, as he shall
think fit.
States Ambassadors Audience.
This Day the House gave Audience to the The States
Ambassadors, in the same Way and Manner as formerly;
and they having delivered what they had to say, they
withdrew.
And the House Ordered, That they should be received in again; and the Speaker, in the Name of the
House, to desire them that they would deliver unto this
House what they now said in Writing.
The Ambassadors being admitted in again, the Speaker
acquainted them with the Desires of this House, as
aforesaid.
And immediately they (fn. *) delivered a Paper to the
Speaker, in French.

And it is Ordered, That this Paper shall be translated in English against To-morrow Morning, at which
Time this House will take this Paper into Consideration.
The Lords went to the Conference.
