The Earl of Warwicke reported divers Papers from
the Committee of the Admiralty and Cinque Ports;
which were read, as follow. (Here enter them.)
And it is Ordered, That the said Papers be recommended to the House of Commons.
Sir F. Pile, Sheriff of Berks, Petition about Sir Ed. Sawyer's Goods being restored.
Upon reading the Petition of Francis Pile Baronet,
Sheriff of the County of Berks; to desire "their Lordships would take into Consideration the Danger to
his Estate, in case the Goods taken in Execution should
be re-delivered; and whether Sir Edmond Sawyer be
a menial Servant to the Earl of Suffolke; and in case
he be, then whether the said Earl may protect his
Estate against an Excution after Judgement for a Debt
of the said Earl himself, or his Father's, wherein
the said Sir Edmond Sawyer stands engaged as his
Surety."
Sir Ed. Sawyer to give the Sheriff collateral Security.
Ordered, That Sir Edmond Sawyer shall give collateral Security to the Sheriff, upon the Delivery of
the said Goods, to restore them in case he be not within
the (fn. *) Privilege of Parliament; which this House will
take into further Consideration, when (fn. †) the Earl of
Suff. doth give to this House further Satisfaction herein.
L. Delawar's House at Whorwell, exempted from being a Garrison.
Upon reading the Petition of Charles Lord De la Warr;
complaining, "That there is an Intent to make his
Lordship's House at Whorwell, in the County of
South'ton, a Garrison, contrary to an Order of this
House, which excludes the Houses of Peers."
It is Ordered, That a particular Order shall be
granted, to exempt his Lordship's House for being made
a Garrison.
Lady Buckhurst, a Pass.
Ordered, That the Lady Buckhurst shall have (fn. *) a
Pass, to go to Oxford, about settling of her Jointure,
allowing her a Fortnight's Time to go and come; and
that it be recommended to the House of Commons, for
their Concurrence therein.

The Order concerning Sir Gregory Norton's House,
&c. was read, and Agreed to, with an Amendment.

The Certificate of the Committee for taking the Accompts of the whole Kingdom, concerning the Earl of
Denbigh, was read, and likewise a Paper of the State
of his Estate. (Here enter it.)
to be paid the Balance due to him.
Committee to prepare Heads for a Conference about it, and the Votes for clearing him.
Ordered, That it be specially recommended to the
House of Commons, That his Lordship may have Satisfaction of what is due unto him: And it is Ordered,
That, at the same Time, the House of Commons be
put in Mind of the Votes formerly sent down, for
clearing of his Lordship's Honour; and the Earl of
Essex, Lord Viscount Say & Seale, Lord North, and the
Lord Robertes, be appointed to draw up what is fit to
be sent to the House of Commons concerning this Business, and report the same to this House.

The Order concerning Humphry Edwards was read;
and committed to the Earl of Kent, Earl of Bolingbrooke,
Lord North, Lord Roberts, and the Lord Mountague;
to meet on Monday Morning next, at Nine a Clock.

"At the Committee of Lords and Commons for
the Admiralty and Cinque Ports.
For the Revenues of the Chest at Chatham, and Sir J. Hawkinss Hospital, for Relief of maimed Seamen, &c. to be speed from Assessments.
"Whereas this Committee is informed, that the
Number of hurt and maimed Seamen hath so much
increased of late, by reason of their more than ordinary Action at Sea; that the Chest at Chatham,
instituted for Relief of such Seamen, will be unable
to maintain the Yearly Pensioners, and others, who, by
virtue of the said Institution, are capable of Relief
from thence; as also, that the Lands belonging to Sir
John Hawkins' Hospitall in Chatham, erected for Relief of aged and decayed Seamen in the Navy, will be
unable to maintain the Almsfolks thereunto belonging, according to the Founder's Intention, unless the
Lands and Revenues belonging to the said Chest and
Hospital be freed from extraordinary Taxations: Ordered. That it be reported to both Houses of Parliament, to be the Opinion of this Committee, That it
will be a good Service to the Public, and a great Encouragement to the Seamen, to exempt all the Rents and
Revenues belonging to the said Chest and Hospital respectively, and received and disbursed for the immediate
Use of the said Poor, from all Manner of Assessments,
made or charged by virtue of any Ordinance of Parliament: And it is further Ordered, That a Particular of
the said Lands and Rents, as certified from the Governors of the said Chest and Hospital respectively,
be annexed to this Order, at the making of the said
Report."

Certificate of the E. of Denbigh's Accompts; during the Time he commanded in the associated Counties of Stafford, Warwick, &c.
"To the Right Honourable the Lords and Commons assembled in both Houses of Parliament.
The humble Certificate of the Committee for taking the Accompts of the whole
Kingdom.
"That the Right Honourable Bassill Earl of Denbigh,
General of all the Forces raised in the Counties of
Warwick, Worcester, Stafford, and Salopp, with the
Cities and Counties of Coventry and Litchfeild, and
Parts adjacent, did, on the Second Day of July, 1645,
deliver unto this Committee, upon Oath, his Accompt,
intituled, "An Accompt of all such Monies as have
been by him received and disbursed for the Use of the
State, from the 20th of June, 1643, till the Third
of April, 1645;" whereby it appeareth, according to
his Lordship's Accompt to us upon Oath presented,
that he hath taken up, upon his own and his Friends
Security, to be re-paid, with Interest, by the State,
Two Thousand Four Hundred and Ten Pounds; and
that he hath received, from the Treasurers of Sequestration at Guildhall, Two Thousand Four Hundred and Seventy Pounds; and of sundry Persons,
upon Composition, and the Public Faith, Four Hundred Forty-eight Pounds, Thirteen Shillings, and
Four Pence; all which amounts unto the Sum of
Five Thousand Three Hundred Twenty-eight Pounds,
Thirteen Shillings, and Four Pence; out of which
Sum his Lordship hath disbursed, towards Payment
of the Forces by him raised, the Sum of Four Thousand
Three Hundred Fifty-four Pounds, One Penny;
which said Sum being deducted out of Five Thousand Three Hundred Twenty-eight Pounds, Thirteen
Shillings, and Four Pence, received as aforesaid, his
Lordship will remain indebted the Sum of Nine
Hundred Seventy-four Pounds, Thirteen Shillings,
and Three Pence; to which there is to be added the
Sum of Forty-eight Pounds, Six Shillings, and Six
Pence, for Errors in the said Accompt, as by a Note
of the Particulars agreed on; and then the Total
which his Lordship will remain indebted amounts
unto the Sum of One Thousand Twenty-two Pounds,
Nineteen Shillings, and Nine Pence; the abovesaid
Sum of Two Thousand Four Hundred and Ten Pounds
being first satisfied by the State; and his Lordship
demands nothing for his Personal Pay, but submitteth the same to the Honour and Justice of both
Houses of Parliament: And we further find, at the
End of his said Accompt, by Memorandum, that
there is due and unpaid, to Waggoners and Carters,
One Hundred Sixty-six Pounds, Twelve Shillings; to
the Inhabitants of the Town of Kensington, for quartering of his Lordship's own Troop, Two Hundred
Seventy-four Pounds, Nine Shillings, and Ten Pence;
for which his Lordship hath signed them Bills; and
likewise a further Sum of Money due to the Inhabitants of Acton, which his Lordship desires that Care
may be taken for the Payment thereof: All which
we humbly certify to these Honourable Houses.

of Accompts, to take and perfect the Accompts of
James Lawrence Girdler, to whom the Parliament is
indebted in great Sums of Money.
Order for 100£. a Month to him, till they are satisfied.
"It is further Ordered, That the Committee of
Lords and Commons for Advance of Money at Habberdashers Hall do pay unto the said James Lawrence, upon the said Accompts, One Hundred Pounds
per Mensem, till the said Debts appearing to be due
unto him upon the making up and perfecting of the
said Accompts shall be satisfied."

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons assembled
in Parliament, That Mr. George Wooldrith, the Mayor
(fn. *) of Reading, be added to the Committees of Berks."
Lady Drake's Allowance increased.
"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That the Four Pounds per Week,
formerly appointed to be paid, out of Habberdashers
Hall, to the Lady Drake, shall be increased to Six
Pounds per Week; and that the said Six Pounds per
Week shall be paid, by the Committee of Lords
and Commons for Advance of Monies at Habberdashers Hall, to John Trefusis Esquire, for the present Maintenance of himself and his Lady, and of
both their Children and Families."
