Tomlinson, Under-sheriff of Surrey, to re-pay the E. of Nottingham 15 l. levied upon his Lands.
Upon reading the Answer of Thomas Tomlinson, late
Under-sheriff of the County of Surrey, to the Complaint
of the Earl of Nottingham against him: It is Ordered,
That the said Tomlinson shall pay to the Earl of Nottingham, or his Assigns, the Sum of Fifteen Pounds, which
was levied upon his Lordship's Lands by the said Undersheriff.
Ordinance appointing Officers of the Excise.
Ordered, That the Ordinance for appointing Thomas Fawconbridge to be Comptroller of the Excise, and
Mr. Bond, shall bear Date the same Day as the Instructions.
Partrich's Petition.
Ordered, That the Petition of Rob't Partrich, depending (fn. *) in this House, shall be dismissed this House, and
left to take his Remedy at Law.

Church to be Parochial, was read the Second Time, and

Ordinance for Provisions for Ireland.
The Ordinance for sending Provisions for Ireland was
read.
Message from the H. C. with Votes for the Scots Army to besiege Newark; and about providing Supplies for them;
A Message was brought from the House of Commons,
by Sir Henry Chomeley, &c.
To desire Concurrence in these Particulars:
1. Some Votes concerning the Scotts Army; videlicet,
That the Scotts Army be desired forthwith to
march to Newarke, to besiege it, for the speedy
reducing of it to the Obedience of the Parliament."
Agreed to.
"That this House doth Declare, That the Scotts
Army shall not lay any Tax, or raise any Contributions, upon the Eastern Association, or
any other County or Part of the Kingdom."
Agreed to.
"That the Committee at Gouldsmythes Hall shall
Weekly pay, to the Foot of the Scotts Army,
Fourteen Hundred Pounds, out of the Assessments already laid upon the Eastern Association, by the Ordinance for the Scotts Army."
Agreed to, with an Addition, wherein the Concurrence of the House of Commons is desired.
"That it be from this House referred, and especially recommended, to the Committee at Goldsmithes Hall, to take Care that the Monies
upon the Ordinance for the Scotts Army may
be duly levied and brought in, out of the
Eastern Association, and all other Counties
charged for the paying of the Army by that
Ordinance; and that the Committee do from
Time to Time give an Account to this House
of their Proceedings herein, and of such Obstructions as they shall meet with."

for Sir W. Brereton to command in Chester;
2. That Sir Wm. Brereton shall command in Chief the
Forces of the County of Chester, as formerly he did, for
Four Months.

for Raby Castle to be garrisoned;
3. That this House doth allow of Raby Castle to be
garrisoned, during the Continuance of these Troubles;
and that a fitting Garrison be placed there, for the Security of those Parts.

4. That the Mayor of Duresme for the Time being,
Mr. Andrew Moore, Mr. George Claveringe, Mr. Henry
Ogle, Sir Rob't Jackson, Sir Wm. Selby, Mr. Wm. Strodder, Mr. Ralph Delavall, and Sir Lyonell Maddison, shall
be, and are hereby, added to the Committees for the
Town and County of Duresme, in the Ordinance for the
Northern Association.

The Answer returned was:

That to the Votes concerning the Scotts Army, this
House will take them into present Consideration, and
send an Answer by Messengers of their own: To all the
rest of the Particulars of this Message, this House agrees
to them.
E. of Warwick to be Governor of Guernsey and Jersey.
Upon reading the Letter to the Committee of both
Kingdoms, from the Inhabitants of the Isle of Guernsey,
That some Person may be appointed to give Licence
to send them Wool, and in particular the Earl of
Warwicke."
It is Resolved, by this House, That the Earl of Warwicke is hereby made Governor of the Islands of Guernsey and Jersey for One whole Year next after the Date
hereof, as formerly he hath been.
The Concurrence of the House of Commons to be
desired herein.
Message to the H. C. about it, and the following Particulars.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by
Sir Edward Leech and Mr. Page;
To desire their Concurrence in these Particulars:
1. In the Addition in the Votes concerning the Scotts
Army.
2. In the Vote for making the Earl of Warwicke Governor of the Isles of Guernsey and Jersey.
3. An Order for the Commissioners of the Great Seal
to pass the Commission concerning Ulster, under the
Great Seal.
4. In the Petition of the Adventurers for The Summer
Islands.
5. In the Exchange of the Irish Prisoners.
6. In the Ordinance concerning Mr. Field.
7. To put them in Mind of Captain Batten's Business.
Milward to be instituted to the Vicarage of Plumsted.
Upon reading the Petition of Mathias Milward,
Batchelor in Divinity; shewing, "That he, being presented to the Vicarage of Plumstead, in the County of
Kent, and Diocese of Rochester, cannot obtain Institution and Induction thereunto, for that the Bishop
of Rochester is absent, neither is there any Chancellor at all."
It is Ordered, That Sir Nath. Brent shall give Institution and Induction to the Petitioner, according to his
Presentation.
