Prayers.
MANY of the House did assemble, and the ordinary Prayers were said by the Clerk, but not Mr. Speaker's Prayer; which grew by some Mislike uttered, that he should say it.
Mr. Speaker's Illness.
Prayers being said, Mr. Lawrence Hyde informed the House, that Mr. Speaker, having a Purpose to come this Day to the House, and striving a little to take the Air Yesterday, got a Cold, and had such Weakness and Looseness came upon him by it, as he was not able to attend the Service this Day, but it might be, he would be here To-morrow.
Mr. Brock seconded him ; and said, that he knew Mr. Speaker's Desire great to do this House Service, but he feared his Weakness to be such, as he should not be able to do this House Service To-morrow; and therefore propounded, that the House would give him Leave to use Means, for the Recovery of his Health, till Monday : To which the whole Assembly assented, and so ordered to be entered.
Adjournment.
This was taken for a kind of Warrant for Adjournment but the Precedent hath not been known, therefore it is merely a Connivence.
