be identified with Richard de Belmeis II, nephew of Richard de Belmeis I, bp. of

Sancte Marie Ecclesia, a layman, who occ. with king Henry II, 1158 and 1161 (Eyton,
Itin. Hen. II pp. 34, 53). Perhaps related to William of Ste.-Mère-Eglise, preb. of
Ealdstreet, and bp. of London (1199-1221) (above p. 2), and Peter of Ste.-MèreEglise, who was treas. from before May 1212 to d. in Apr. 1227 or Apr. 1228 (above
