Robert [?de Limesey]
First preb. in cats., 'Robertus episcopus Cestr.'. Presum., if cat. order correct, to be
identified with Robert de Limesey, bp. of Chester, nom. 25 Dec. 1085, cons. 1086, d.
1 Sept. 1117, who attests Henry I's conf. to Maurice, bp. of London, 14 Sept. 
(Gibbs no. 22). [Only other possibility is Robert Pecche, king's chapl. 1101-20
(Regesta II nos. 544-1226), bp. of Chester 1121-27; but this identification would be
Occ. in cats. between Robert [?de Limesey] and Raherius, 'Radulphus Gundram'.
Occ. as can. three times: 1104/5 (WD 4 fo. 19/23r-v, pd. in Rep. p. 61b), 1114/15
(Hale pp. 127-8), and 1115/16 (A/24/1478 and WD 4 fos. 19/23v-20/24r, pd. in
Rep. pp. 61b-62a).
Occ. in cats. between Ralph Gundram and Geoffrey Constable, 'Raherius [Ragerius,
Cat. II]'. Possibly to be identified with Rahere, prior of St. Bartholomew, Smithfield
(Aug.), 1123-44 (for whom see J. C. Dickinson, Origins of the Austin Canons (1950)
pp. 121-2, 135 and references cited). This possibility is strengthened by occ. of a
Geoffrey Constable in connection with St. Bartholomew's, 1137 (see below).
Occ. in cats. between Raherius and Nicholas son of Clement, 'Gaufridus constabularius'. First certain occ. as can. [c. 1128 × 1138] (WD 4 fo. 52/56v, pd. in Rep. p.
67a), (fn. 3) but may be the 'Gaufridus' who occ. as can. 1132/3 (WD 4 fo. 53/57r-v, pd. in
Rep. p. 67b) and [1115 × c. 1138] (WD 4 fo. 29/33r-v, pd. in Rep. p. 64a). (fn. 4) Last certain
occ. 1148/9 (WD 4 fos. 27/31v-28/32r, pd. in Rep. p. 63a-b), but may occ. later,
[1141 × Sept. 1150] (Two Registers of Beauchamp, ed. H. C. Maxwell-Lyte (Somerset
Record Soc. xxxv) p. 101). (fn. 5) Perhaps to be identified with 'Gaufridus Cunestable',
who occ., not called can., in charter of Rahere, prior of St. Bartholomew, Smithfield,
1137 (Moore. St. Barts. 1 26-7; cf. Raherius, above), and with Geoffrey Constable
who had property in London and prob. d. before 1154 (Regesta III no. 317).
M. Nicholas son of Clement
Occ. in cats. between Geoffrey Constable and Richard de Umfraville, 'Nicholaus'.
Presum. to be identified with M. Nicholas son of Clement, who is the only Nicholas in
St. Paul's chapter at this period, for whom otherwise no preb. can be assigned. Occ. as
can. [Apr. 1138 × 1150] (WD 4 fos. 20/24r-21/25v, pd. in Rep. p. 62a), (fn. 2) together with
Geoffrey Constable, so presum. held another unident. preb. at this time. Also occ.
1150/1 (B.M., Harley MS. 6956 fo. 84v, from missing Liber F fo. 35). Last occ.
1183/4 (G.F.L. no. 403), and [c. 1185] (A/33/702), (fn. 3) and perhaps later, [c. 1180 × 1192]
(A/2/581, name omitted from cal. in Rep. p. 3b) (fn. 4) and [c. 1180 × Sept. 1186] (A/30/

together with his predecessor in this preb., Richard de Umfraville. First occ. as can. 14
Apr. 1208 (Westminster, D. & C., Muniment bk. XI, 'Domesday' fo. 478r-v). Last
occ. 1215/16 (A/39/1369) and [c. 1214 × Sept. 1216] (Gibbs nos. 145, 254). Excomm.,
prob. late summer 1215, and depr., prob. by 16 Sept.  (Norf. Portion of Chartulary of Lewes, ed. J. H. Bullock (Norf. Record Soc. xii) no. 67; cf. Gervase of
Howbridge, above p. 26). Nephew of Osbert de Camera, preb. of Hoxton (Gibbs no.
79), and also called Richard 'de Calva' (Norf. Portion of Chartulary of Lewes no. 66).

Hadham'. First occ. as can. 27 Nov. 1218 (cart. of St. Thomas of Acon: B.M., Cotton
