Robert son of Generannus
Occ. in cats. between Levegar and Ralph, 'Robertus filius Generanni'. First occ. as
can. 1114/15 (Hale pp. 127-8). Last occ. 26 May 1162 (Gibbs no. 217). Occ. this
preb., n.d. (Mon. Ang. IV 393(1)). Prob. son of Generannus of London, who occ.
1114/15 (Hale pp. 127-8); brother of Hugh son of Generannus, preb. of Wilsden
(Gibbs no. 245).
Occ. in cats. between Robert son of Generannus and Walter son of Walter,
'magister Radulphus'. Only certain occ. as can. [1183/4] (Gibbs no. 69). Other occs.
of 'M. Ralph' in  (G.F.L. no. 427(1)) and [1170 × 76] (G.F.L. no. 392) might be
M. Ralph de Alta Ripa, who became archdcn. of Colchester before Sept. 1186. Prob.
to be identified with M. Ralph Theologus, who occ. as can. 1183/4 (G.F.L. no. 403, a
document closely related to Gibbs no. 69, and with many of the same witnesses), and
commem. 13 Feb. (Obit. I fo. 10v), 14 Feb. (Obits. II fo. 107v, III fo. 94v, IV p. 77),
15 Feb. (Obit. IV p. 63), and who cannot otherwise be assigned a preb. Perhaps also
to be identified with M. Ralph Divinus, who occ. as can. [1162 × 74] (A/11/1071, pd.
in Rep. p. 12a), (fn. 5) and who d. by 1192 (Gibbs no. 167). (fn. 6)
Walter son of Walter
Occ. in cats. between Ralph and John of Kent, 'Walterus precentor'. Not appd.
until after [July 1183 × Nov. 1184], when occ. as clk. (G.F.L. no. 404). Appd. can. and
precentor at same time (Petri Blesensis Opera Omnia, ed. J. A. Giles (Oxford, 1846-7)
11 170 ff. (no. 217)). First occ. as precentor and this preb. 7 Oct. 1189 (Mon. Ang. IV
393(1)). Precentor to d., prob. in Sept. 1203.

M. Henry de Cornhill

preb. of Weldland between June 1229 and Sept. 1241 (B.M., Harley MS. 6956 fo. 88v,
from missing Liber F: preb. of Finsbury 'commutata erat Hen. cancellar. et appropriata cancellarie'). (fn. 2) Occ. this preb. before and after el. to deanery, by May 1243
