Disputed by canon Luke, claiming it as preb.; created preb. for him by bp. John, 6 Oct. 1174 × Dec. 1178, with addition of 3 marks from archdcnry. of Lewes, tithes in Bishopstone (E. Suss.; see preb. Collated to this preb. by bp. Seffrid II 1187 × 97, in succession to Luke (Acta no. 89), but already canon, first occ. 16 Nov. 1180 × 28 Oct. 1185 (ibid. no. 76). (fn. 2) Occ. several times. Last occ. no later than his collation to this preb., 1187 × 97 (ibid. no. 89; cf. ibid. no. 84 of 1192/3, and Chart. Chichester no. 1069 of 1186 × c. 17 March 1204). (fn. 3)
