PREBENDARIES OF HIGHLEIGH

The prebendary of Highleigh was also Master of the Grammar School. He was nominated by the dean and chapter to the bishop, and was not eligible as a residentiary. Before the Act of Uniformity of 1662, he was not necessarily in Holy Orders. (fn. 1)
