PRAYERS.
Lord Keeper sent by the King to the Earl of Strafford, but first acquaints the House with it.
The Lord Keeper signified to the House, That,
waiting this Morning on His Majesty, he was commanded by Him to go to the Earl of Strafford, to receive from him an Account of some Things in Ireland,
that His Majesty might know the better how to order
His Affairs there. Upon which his Lordship humbly
represented to His Majesty the Place his Lordship
held in the Lords House; and that he had, by their
Lordships Command, pronounced the Sentence for
Commitment of the said Earl, upon the Accusation of
the House of Commons; and therefore humbly besought His Majesty, he might, before his going to the
Earl of Strafford, acquaint the House therewith; which
His Majesty was graciously pleased to give him Leave
to do. For which Respect their Lordships were pleased
to give him Thanks.
Every Lord to ask Leave of the House before he visit the Earl of Strafford.
And, upon the Motion of the Earl of Essex, it was
Agreed by their Lordships, That the rest of their
Lordships, that have any Occasion to go to him,
should in the like Manner acquaint the House first
with it.

the Afternoon.
Committees appointed about the Northern Business.
The Earl of Dover moved, That the Lords Commissioners that treated at Rippon with the Scottish Commissioners, having taken great Pains and Diligence in
that Business, and having made their Narration of the
whole Proceedings to both Houses, which hath been
approved of by this House, that there might be a Select
Committee appointed, to examine the Grounds os the
whole Proceedings preceding the Meeting of the Great
Council at Yorke, and the Treaty at Rippon, and of the
Affairs, and the Raising and Ill-managing of our Armies
in the Northern Parts, as suffering the Scots to come into
the Kingdom, and wherein the principal Fault and
Neglect hath been; and likewise to examine the Breach
of the First Pacification, and what interrupted those
Articles; which Motion was approved, and committed.
For the First Part, the Lords Committees have Power
given them by this House absolutely to treat of, and
for the Pacification, being the latter Part, the Lords
Committees are to advice, if their Lordships please, with
the Lords Commissioners which treated with the Scots
Commissioners at Rippon and Yorke, that so their Lordships may proceed, without any Interruption or Interfering, with that Affair.
