Kirke's Naturalization Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for Naturalizing of John Kirke, James Kirke and Mary Kirke.

King's Claim to the Baronies of Hastings and Ruthin.

This Day Mr. Attorney General did argue the King's Claim to the Baronies of Hastings and Ruthin; and, in Conclusion of his Argument, craved Judgement for the King.

E. of Kent's and Mr. Longuevile's Claim to the said Baronies.

The Counsel of the Earl of Kent, and Mr. Longevile, being at the Bar, desired that the House would appoint a Time when they might reply to Mr. Attorney; and being commanded to withdraw, the House took it into Consideration, and did Order, The Counsel of the Earl of Kent and Mr. Longevile shall be heard on Friday next, both upon that Day, to reply to the new Matter delivered this Day by Mr. Attorney; and that Mr. Attorney shall have the last Word for the King, if he see Cause.

Petition of the Prisoners in The New Prison.

After this, was read the Petition of divers of the Prisoners in The New Prison; shewing, That they were on a Sunday assembled together in a peaceable Manner, in Prayer, and were violently assailed by divers deboist and rude Persons; who, by the Command of Justice Gibbs, in Whitechapple, furiously beat and broke in Pieces the Door upon them, contrary to the Laws and Statutes of this Land, not shewing them any Warrant for so doing, though the Petitioners did demand it of them; and, with Swords, Halberts, and Clubs, violently entered the House, encouraging thereby many Scores of Persons to beat down the Windows with Stones, to the wounding of a young Child, to the Effusion of much Blood, etc. Also one Reynolds threatened one of the Petitioners to cut his Throat, etc. Further the Petitioners set forth, That hereupon they are imprisoned and indicted, and proceeded against, contrary to Law and Justice, as they conceive; for Redress whereof they desire that the Equity of their Cause may be examined, and receive a speedy Deliverance and Repair from their wrongful and vexatious Troubles, etc. Hereupon it was Ordered, That the said Mr. Justice Gibbs, and the Prisoners mentioned in the Petition, shall appear here To-morrow Morning at Eight of the Clock, and the Prisoners to be released upon Bail, to attend their Cause; for which Purpose they are to attend the Lords Committees this Afternoon, and the Lords to consider what Bail is fit to be taken therein.
