[transcript] An oath conceaved in the time of John Partridge Mr &c.
I, A.B. of my owne free will do sweare upon the holie Evangelistes to bee true
and faithfull unto our Sovereigne lord the kinge his heires and Successors
kinges and Queenes of England, and to bee true in myne office and science
and to Do my deligence that all the Deedes wch I shall make to bee sealed
shalbee well and trulie done after my learning and science and shalbee
Dulie and advisedlie read over and examined before thensealing of the
same, And especiallie I shall not write nor suffer to bee written by any of
myne to my power or knowledg any Deed or writing to bee sealed where in
any deceipt or falshood maie bee perceaved or in my conscience suspected
to lye, nor any deed bearing date of long time past before thensealing thereof nor bearing any date of a time to come, neither shall I testefie nor suffer
any of myne to testefie to my power or knowledg any blanck ch[a]rt[er]
or deed sealed before the full writing thereof and neither for hast nor for
covetousnes I shall take upon mee to make any deed touching inheritance
of landes or estates for life or yeares nor any deed of greate charge whereof
I have not cunning without good advice and informacon of councell, and
all the good rules and ordinances of the Societie of Scriveners of the citie of
London I shall well and trulie keepe and observe to my power, soe farr as
god shall give mee grace. So helpe mee god, and the holie contentes of this
