Delinquents for cutting Wood in Enfield Chase.
This Day Ric'd Flowood, George Clipson, Tho. Porter,
and Ric'd Clarke, were brought to the Bar, being apprehended, by Order of this House, as Delinquents, for
cutting down Wood and Trees, in the King's Forest, in
Engfeild Chace, and felling the same; which Offences
were proved by Witnesses, besides their own Confessions:
Hereupon this House Ordered, That the said Offenders
shall stand committed to the Prison of The Fleete, there
to remain until the further Pleasure of this House be
known.
The Woodward to search for stolen Wood, and the Parties, and make his Report to this House.
Ordered, That the Woodward of Engfeild Chace
shall hereby have Power to call to his Assistance the
Constables and other Officers, to search for stolen Wood,
which he is informed of to be stolen out of the said
Chace, or any Part thereof; and that he shall secure
what he shall find Proof to be stolen out of any
Parts of the said Chace, and certify the Quantity of
such stolen Woods unto this House, and the Names of
the Parties in whose Custody the said Wood is; and,
upon such Certificate, this House will further Order
herein.
