Ordered, That this House will take into Consideration the late Conference with the House of Commons,
concerning Colonel Kinge, To-morrow Morning, at which
Time the Lords are to have Notice to attend the House;
and the Judges likewise are to be commanded to attend.
E. of Leicester's Money, &c. to be restored him, and to come to London.
Upon Information to this House, "That the Earl of
Leycester is at North'ton, under Custody of a Guard;
and that his Watch and his Money is taken away
from him:" It is Ordered, That seeing he hath the
Lord General's Pass to come to London, that he be permitted to come to London, at his own Conveniency,
without any Guard or Restraint; and that his Money
and Goods taken away from him be restored to him.
Message to the H. C. for an Answer about The States Ambassadors;
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by
Sir Edward Leech and Dr. Aylett:
To desire their Answer concerning the Business of The
States Ambassadors.
and with Deputy Lieutenants Names for Surry.
2. To desire their Concurrence, that Sir Ric'd Bettison may be added to be a Deputy Lieutenant of the
County of Surry.
Order from the Committee at Haberdasher's Hall to attach the E. of Thanet to be enquired into.
Upon Information to this House, "That there is an
Order, dated the 20th of May 1644, from the Committee of Lords and Commons for Advance of Money,
at Haberdashers Hall, subscribed under the Hand of
Martin Dallison, Clerk to the said Committee, for
attaching and apprehending the Body of the Earl of
Thanett, and bringing him before the said Committee
in safe Custody:" Which this House apprehending to
be against the Privilege of the Peers of this Realm;
hereupon this House Ordered, That the Lords of that
Committee do enquire after the Matter of the Fact of this
Business, and the Grounds upon which this Order was
made, and inform this House of the Truth of the Business To-morrow Morning. In the mean Time, no Proceedings to be in the Business.
Message from the H. C. not to sit on Tuesdays and Thursdays;
A Message was brought from the House of Commons,
by Sir Rob't Harley Knight, and others:
1. To acquaint their Lordships with their Resolutions
to forbear sitting Tuesdays and Thursdays, and to desire
their Lordships Concurrence therein.

That this House agrees in the Ordinance concerning
the reimbursing of Monies by the Commissioners of the
Excise; concerning Colonel Kinge, their Lordships will
take it into present Consideration: To the rest of the
Particulars of this Message, their Lordships will send
them an Answer by Messengers of their own.
Letter to the Ld. General.
The Letter to the Lord General was read Once; and
it is Ordered, That this House will take it into Consideration To-morrow Morning.

The Messengers sent to the House of Commons return with this Answer:
That they agree to the adding of Sir Ric'd Bettison;
and concerning the Business touching The States Ambassadors, they will send an Answer by Messengers of
their own.
Ordinance to reimburse 20,000 l. to the Commissioners of Excise, advanced for the Service of the West.
"Whereas John Towse Esquire, Alderman of the
City of London, and the rest of the Commissioners of
Excise and new Impost, have, as appeareth by Two
several Ordinances of Parliament, dated the Second
of April and the Fourth of May last, advanced and
lent the Sum of Ten Thousand Pounds, in Two
equal Portions, for the Service of the West; and
whereas the said John Towse Alderman, and the rest
of the Commissioners of Excise and new Impost, have
now further advanced and lent Ten Thousand Pounds
more for the same Service: Be it Ordained, by the
Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That
the said Commissioners of Excise and new Impost shall
and may reimburse themselves of the said Sum of
Twenty Thousand Pounds, with Interest after the
Rate of Eight Pounds per Cent. for so long Time as
they shall be out of the same, or any Part thereof,
out of the Receipts of Excise which are to commence from the Eleventh of September next, by Five
Thousand Pounds per Month, with Interest as aforesaid to that Time arising; the First Payment to begin
from the Eleventh of September as aforesaid, and so
to continue in the Receipt of Five Thousand Pounds and
Interest Monthly, until the said whole Sum of Twenty
Thousand Pounds and Interest shall be fully satisfied
and paid; which said several Sums shall be allowed
them upon Accompt accordingly: And the said Commissioners of Excise are hereby authorized to pay the
said Sum of Ten Thousand Pounds beforementioned
unto John Trenchard Esquire, whose Receipt shall be
a sufficient Discharge unto them, and every of them,
in that Behalf."
