Lords take the Oaths.

The Lords following took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes:

George Lord Bergevenny.
Thomas Lord Howard of Effingham.

The Lord Chancellor acquainted the House, "That His Majesty had sent a Commission for proroguing the Parliament."

The House was adjourned during Pleasure.

The House was resumed.

Then Seven of the Lords Commissioners (in their Robes) being seated on a Form placed between the Throne and the Woolsack; the Lord Chancellor in the Middle; and the Lord President, Lord Steward, and Duke of Marlborough, on his Right Hand; and the Lord Privy Seal, Duke of Somerset, and Earl of Sunderland, on his Left; commanded the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod to let the Commons know, "The Commissioners desire them to come and hear the Commission read."

Who being come, with their Speaker; the Commission was read, by the Clerk, as follows:

Duodecimo Die Novembris, Anno Regni Annæ nuper Reginæ (Beatæ Memoriæ) Duodecimo, inchoari et teneri ordinatum fuerit; quo Die idem Parliamentum per Prorogationem continuatum fuit usque Decimum Diem Decembris tunc prox. sequen.; et abinde, per separales Prorogationes, usque ad et in Decimum Sextum Diem Februarii ult. præterit. ulterius continuatum fuit, apud Civitatem Nostram prædictam, et tunc inchoatum et tentum fuit; et abinde, per separalia Adjournamenta et Prorogationes, et virtute Actus Parliamenti nuper in ea Parte edit. et provis. usque ad et in hunc instantem Diem Jovis, Vicesimum Tertium Diem Septembris, congregatum, adjournatum, et prorogatum fuit, apud Civitatem Nostram Westm. præd. ibidem tunc tenendum et prosequendum: Sciatis tamen, quod, certis urgentibus Causis et Considerationibus Nos specialiter moventibus, idem Parliamentum Nostrum ulterius prorogandum duximus. De Fidelitate igitur, Prudentia, et Circumspectionibus vestris plurimum considentes, de Avisamento et Assensu Concilii Nostri, assignavimus vos Commissionarios Nostros; dantes vobis, et aliquibus Tribus vel pluribus vestrum, Tenore Præsentium, plenam Potestatem et Authoritatem, hoc instante Die Jovis, ad præsens Parliamentum Nostrum, Nomine Nostro, usque ad et in Diem Jovis, Vicesimum Primum Diem Octobris nunc prox. sequen. apud prædictam Civitatem Nostram Westm. prorogandum et continuandum, ibidem tunc tenendum et prosequendum; et ideo vobis mandamus, quod circa Præmissa diligenter intendatis, ac ea in Forma prædicta effectualiter expleatis. Damus autem universis et singulis Archiepiscopis, Ducibus, Marchionibus, Comitibus, Vicecomitibus, Episcopis, Baronibus, Militibus, Civibus, Burgensibus, et Commissionariis pro Comitatibus et Burgis, ac omnibus aliis quorum interest ad dictum Parliamentum Nostrum conventuris, Tenore Præsentium, firmiter in Mandatis, quod vobis in Præmissis faciendis, agendis, et exequendis, pareant, obediant, et intendant, prout decet. In cujus Rei Testimonium, has Literas Nostras fieri fecimus Patentes.

"Teste Meipso, apud Westm. Vicesimo Tertio Die Septembris, Anno Regni Nostri Primo.

"Per ipsum Regem, propria Manu signat.

"Wrighte."

Then the Lord Chancellor said,

Parliament prorogued.

"My Lords, and Gentlemen,

"By Virtue of His Majesty's Commission now read, and to us and others directed, we do, in His Majesty's Name, prorogue this Parliament to Thursday the One and Twentieth Day of October next: And this Parliament is accordingly prorogued to Thursday the One and Twentieth Day of October next."
