George Augustus Electoral Prince of Brunswick Lunenburgh, being, by Letters Patents; dated Vicesimo Septimo Die Septembris, Anno Primo Georgii Regis, created Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester, was this Day (in his Robes) introduced; being preceded by the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, Clarencieux King at Arms in the Absence of Garter King at Arms, and the Lord Great Chamberlain of England; and attended by the Lord President of the Council, the Lord Steward, and the Lord Chamberlain of His Majesty's Household (also in their Robes).

His Royal Highness, standing, presented his Letters Patents to the Lord Chancellor at the Woolsack; who delivered them to the Clerk; and the same were read, at the Table.

His Writ of Summons was also read, as follows:

Then his Royal Highness was placed in his Chair, on the Right Hand of the Chair of State on the Throne.

King present.

His Majesty, being seated on His Royal Throne, adorned with His Crown and Regal Ornaments, and attended with His Officers of State, the Prince of Wales sitting in his Place, and the Lords in their Robes, commanded the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod to let the Commons know, "It is His Majesty's Pleasure, they attend Him immediately, in the House of Peers."

Who being come, the Lord Chancellor, receiving Directions from His Majesty, said,

Commons directed to chuse a Speaker.

"My Lords, and Gentlemen,

"I am commanded by His Majesty to acquaint you, That His Majesty does not intend to declare the Causes of calling this Parliament, till there be a Speaker of the House of Commons.

"And therefore you, the Gentlemen of the House of Commons, are to repair to the Place where the Commons usually sit, and there proceed to the Election of a fit Person to be your Speaker; whom you are to present to His Majesty here, for His Royal Approbation, on Monday next, at Twelve of the Clock."

Then His Majesty was pleased to withdraw; and the Commons returned to their House.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, to unrobe.

The House was resumed.

The Lord Chancellor, singly, in the First Place, at the Table, took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Return of Peers for Scotland.

Then his Lordship delivered the Certificate of the Clerk of the Crown of the Names of the Sixteen Peers of Scotland, chosen to sit in this Parliament.

Which was (according to the Standing Order) read; and is as follows; (videlicet,)
