The House being informed, "That a true Copy of
the Answer of Thomas Earl of Strafford, to the Articles of Impeachment for high Crimes and Misdemeanors, exhibited against him by the House of Commons, was prepared, pursuant to the Direction of this
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by
Mr. Holford and Mr. Lovibond:
To carry down the Copy of the said Answer, and
to leave the same with that House.
Dalziel, Leave to visit the Earl of Carnwath.
Upon reading the Petition of Robert Earl of Carnwath; praying, "That Colonel Thomas Dalziel may
have Liberty of Access to the Petitioner, during such
Time, before Thursday next, as to their Lordships
shall seem meet:"
Ordered, That the said Colonel Dalziel may have
Access to the Petitioner, at any seasonable Hour, before the Sitting of this House, To-morrow.
Lloyd et Ux. versus Burton.
Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of John Lloyd
Gentleman and Mary his Wife; complaining of a Decree made by the Master of the Rolls the Third Day of
July 1713, and the Confirmation thereof by the late
Lord Chancellor on the Fourteenth Day of November following, in certain Causes, wherein Cornelius Burton, an Infant, by Sarah Burton his Mother and Prochein Amy, was Plaintiff, and the Petitioners Defendants,
et è contra; praying, "That the said Decree may be
reversed; or that this House will direct an Issue at
Law, to try whether the Writing in the Pleadings
mentioned, purporting to be a Surrender, was duly
executed and presented; and if so, whether the same
was not re-called:"
It is Ordered, That the said Cornelius and Sarah
Burton may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and shall
and are hereby required to put in their Answer thereunto, in Writing, on or before Tuesday the One and
Thirtieth Day of this Instant January.
Blake to enter into Recognizance for Kirwan.
The House being moved, "That Oliver Blake Esquire
may be allowed to enter into a Recognizance for John
and Simon Kirwan, upon their Appeal depending in
this House, they being in Ireland:"
It is Ordered, That the said Oliver Blake may enter
into a Recognizance for the said John and Simon Kirwan,
D. Bolton takes the Oaths.
This Day Charles Duke of Bolton took the Oaths,
and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took
and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the
Statutes; his Grace having first delivered a Certificate
of his receiving the Sacrament, to the Truth whereof
Witnesses were sworn and examined.
