PRAYERS.
Foot, a Door-keeper, arrested for another Person.
A Petition of John Foot, a Servant of this House
under the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, was
presented to the House, and read; complaining, "That,
as he was coming to attend his Duty as One of the
Door-keepers to this House, the Twenty-first of this
Instant January, he was arrested, by one Cole
an Officer, at the Suit of one Willet, for
Forty Pounds, and was detained in Custody for Four
Hours, and carried to a Spunging-house, though the
House was at that Time sitting; and, upon the coming of the Plaintiff, who declaring the Petitioner was
not the Man, he was discharged, and not before;
and praying, that this House will take the Premises
into Consideration, and give the Petitioner such Relief as to their Lordships shall seem meet:"
Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to the
Consideration of the Lords Committees for Privileges;
their Lordships to report the Fact, and their Opinion
thereupon, to the House.
Adjourn.
