A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Hampden and others:
To acquaint this House, that the Commons were prevented, by extraordinary Business, from meeting their
Lordships, on Wednesday the Twenty-second of February
last, at a Conference, on the Subject-matter of the last
Conference, as was desired by their Lordships; and that
they do desire their Lordships to appoint some other
Time, when they may meet their Lordships at the said
Conference.
Ordered, That To-morrow, at Two a Clock, in
the Painted Chamber, be the Time for meeting the Commons, at a Conference, as desired.
And the Commons were called in; and told, "That
the Lords have appointed To-morrow, at Two a Clock,
in the Painted Chamber, to meet the Commons at a
Conference, on the Subject-matter of the last Conference."
Mutiny Bill.
Hodie 2a
vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for
preventing Mutiny and Desertion, and for the better
Payment of the Army and their Quarters."
Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a
Committee of the whole House, To-morrow.
The House was adjourned during Pleasure, to robe.
The House was resumed.
King present.
His Majesty, being seated on His Royal Throne,
adorned with His Crown and Regal Ornaments, and
attended with His Officers of State (the Lords being in
their Robes), commanded the Gentleman Usher of the
Black Rod to let the Commons know, "That it is His
Majesty's Pleasure, they attend Him, immediately, in
the House of Peers."
Who being come, with their Speaker, the Clerk of
the Crown read the Title of the Bill to be passed; as
follows; (videlicet,)
Bill for speedy Trial of Rebels passed.
"An Act for the more easy and speedy Trial of such
Persons as have levied, or shall levy, War against His
Majesty."
To which the Royal Assent was pronounced, in
these Words; (videlicet,)
"Le Roy le veult."
Then His Majesty was pleased to retire; and the
Commons withdrew.
The House was adjourned during Pleasure, to unrobe.
The House was resumed.
