Wilkins and Dod to attend, concerning Part of a Protest, printed in a News Paper.
Complaint was made to the House of a printed News
Paper, intituled, "The Evening General Post, from Tuesday April 24th, to Thursday April 26th, 1716," mentioned to be printed and sold by W. Wilkins at The Dolphin in Little Britain, and A. Dodd at The Peacock without Temple Bar; in which is contained a Paragraph to
the Effect following; (videlicet,) "Abstract of the Protest against the Bill for repealing the Triennial Act,
by several Lords," who are in that Paragraph particularly mentioned.
And the said Title and Paragraph being read:
It is Ordered, That the said W. Wilkins and A. Dodd
do attend this House on Tuesday next, in order to be
examined touching the said printed Paper.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for explaining and
making more effectual an Act passed in the Twelfth
Year of the Reign of Her late Majesty Queen Anne,
intituled, An Act for making the Chapelry of Stocton, in the County of Durham, a distinct Parish;"
to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The Order of the Day being read, for the Second
Reading of the Bill, intituled, An Act for the Attainder of George Earl of Marischall, William Earl of
Seaforth, James Earl of Southesque, James Earl of
Panmuir, and others, of High Treason, unless they
shall render themselves to Justice by a Day certain,
therein limited;" and for the Attendance of such
Persons who were examined as Witnesses before the
House of Commons, in relation to the said Bill:
Then the House being informed, "The said Witnesses were attending accordingly:"
The said Bill was read a Second Time.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr.
Hampden and others:
To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Time of Continuance of Parliaments, appointed by an Act made in the Sixth Year of the
Reign of King William and Queen Mary, intituled,
An Act for the frequent meeting and calling of Parliaments;" and to acquaint this House, that they
have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.
A Message from the House of Commons, by Colonel
Morton and others:
To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the free
Importation of Cochineal, during the Time therein
limited;" and to acquaint this House, that they
have agreed to their Lordships Amendment made
thereto.

Then the several Persons attending, in order to be
examined in relation to the Bill, intituled, "An Act
for the Attainder of George Earl of Marischal, William
Earl of Seaforth, James Earl of Southesque, James
Earl of Panmuir, and others, of High Treason, unless they shall render themselves to Justice by a Day
certain, therein limited," were called in.
And Mr. David Campbell, Mr. Robert Douglas, Mr.
Kenneth Mackenzie, Mr. James Drummond, Mr. John
Macklean, Mr. James Stewart, Alex'r Mackleod, and
Murdoch Mackpherson, were, upon Oath, at the Bar,
severally examined; and gave the House an Account,
"That the several Persons mentioned in the Bill were
in Arms, on the Part of the Rebels, during the late
Rebellion in Scotland."
And then they withdrew.
Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a
Committee of the whole House, on Tuesday next.
Officers in H. C. to limit, Bill.
The Order of the Day being read, for the Second
Reading the Bill, intituled, "An Act for securing
the Freedom of Parliaments, by limiting the Number
of Officers to sit in the House of Commons."
Ordered, That the said Bill be read a Second Time
on this Day Fortnight.
Trials for Treason, Bill.
The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill,
intituled, "An Act for granting to all Persons the Benefit of an Act, made in the Seventh Year of the
Reign of the late King William, intituled, "An Act
for regulating of Trials, in Cases of Treason and
Misprision of Treason," who shall be proceeded against
in Parliament, for any the Crimes of Treason and
Misprision of Treason in the said Act mentioned."
And, after some Time spent therein, the House was
resumed.
And the Earl of Clarendon reported from the said
Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and
made some Amendments thereunto; which they had
directed him to report, when the House will please to
receive the same."
Ordered, That the said Report be received on
Tuesday next.
Sunderland's Bill.

vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for
vesting certain Lands and Tenements of Peter Sunderland Esquire in Trustees, to be sold, for Payment
of Debts charged thereon before the making of his
