King's Answer to Address for a Lord High Steward.
The Lord Chamberlain acquainted the House, "That
the Lords with White Staves (according to Order)
had waited on His Majesty, and presented to Him
the Address of this House of Yesterday, That His
Majesty would be graciously pleased to appoint a
Lord High Steward, for the Trial of the Earl of
Oxford, on the Thirteenth Instant; and that His
Majesty had been pleased to give Directions accordingly:"

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr.
Conyers and others:
With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for explaining an
Act passed the last Session of Parliament, intituled,
An Act to oblige Papists to register their Names
and Real Estates;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.
A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr.
Strickland and others:
With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable Susanna
Catherina Nugent to sue for, recover, and hold, the
Portion of Fourteen Hundred Pounds, provided for
her out of her Father's Estate, notwithstanding her
Coverture, and the Outlawry of her Husband Hyacinthus Nugent Esquire;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.
Cary versus White, &c.
This Day being appointed, for hearing Counsel,
upon the Petition and Appeal of John Cary Esquire,
presented to this House the Twentieth of May 1713,
complaining of an Order of Dismission made in the
Court of Chancery in Ireland, the Fourth Day of June
1711, in a Cause wherein the Appellant was Plaintiff,
and John White Esquire and others, Administrators of
Sir Humphrey Jervis, late of Dublin, Knight, were Defendants; and praying, "That the same may be reversed:" As also upon the Answer of the said John
White and his Wife, surviving Administrators of the
said Sir Humphrey, put in to the said Appeal:
Counsel accordingly appeared for the Respondents;
but neither the Appellant appeared, nor any on his Behalf.
And the Counsel for the Respondents praying exemplary Costs might be awarded. on Account of the long
Delay and unjust Vexation of the said Appellant:
They were directed to withdraw.
And being withdrawn accordingly:
Judgement affirmed, with Costs.
It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the
said Petition and Appeal be, and is hereby, dismissed
this House: and that the said Order of Dismission therein complained of be, and is hereby, affirmed: And it
is further Ordered, That the said Appellant do pay
to the said Respondents the Sum of One Hundred
Pounds, for their Costs, in respect of the said Appeal.
L. V. M'Cashell's Appeal rejected, not being presented in Time.
A Petition and Appeal of James Lord Viscount
M'Cashell, a Minor, Son and Heir of Paul late Lord
Viscount M'Cashell, deceased, by Katherine Lady Viscountess Dowager M'Cashell his Mother and Guardian,
and of the said Viscountess, Administratrix of the said
Paul Lord Viscount M'Cashell, was presented to the
House, and read; complaining of Two Orders made in
the Court of Chancery in Ireland, the 19th of November
and 22d of February 1716, on hearing and re-hearing
certain Causes there depending; and also of a Proceeding of the said Court, the 17th of April last; and praying
Relief; was presented to the House, and read.
Ordered, That the said Appeal be rejected; the
same not being presented within the Time limited by
the Standing Order of this House; but without Prejudice to the Appellants renewing their Appeal hereafter,
in a proper Manner.
Committee to view the Parliament office revived.
Ordered, That the Committee appointed to consider the Petition of William Cowper Esquire Clerk of the
Parliaments, and to view the Place called The Parliament-office, where the Records are deposited and
kept, be revived, and meet on Tuesday Morning next;
and that it be an Instruction to the said Committee, to
make what Observations they shall think fit, concerning the State and Condition of the Journals of this
House.
Act for Papists to register their Estates, Bill to explain.

for explaining an Act passed the last Session of Parliament, intituled, An Act to oblige Papists to register their Names and Real Estates; and for enlarging the Time for such registering."
Ordered, That the said Bill be read a Second
Time on Wednesday next; and all the Lords to be summoned.

After reading, and considering, the Report of the
Judges, to whom the Petition of John Duke of Montagu was referred; praying Leave to bring in a Bill,
for the Purposes in the Petition mentioned:
It is Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a
Bill, according to the Prayer of the Petition, and pursuant to the Judges Report.
