PRAYERS.

Lanoy, &c. versus Werry, &c.

Ordered, That the Cause wherein Sir Timothy Lanoy and Thomas Vernon Esquire are Appellants, and John Werry and John Trewolla Respondents, which was specially appointed to be heard this Day, be put off till To-morrow.

Papers from the Commissioners of Inquiry delivered.

The House being informed, "That a Person attended from the Commissioners of Inquiry:"

He was called in; and delivered, at the Bar, several Papers, pursuant to the Orders of this House of the Fourth and Fifth Instant.

And then he withdrew.

And the Titles of the said Papers were read, as follow:

1. "A Return from your Lordships Commissioners, on the forfeited Estates."

2. "Decrees of Sequestration."

3. "The Interlocutor, or Decree, of the Lords of Session."

4. "List of Judgements of the Courts in Scotland, concerning the Claims touching the forfeited Estates, passed since the 24th June 1715."

5. "List of the Factors, granted by the Commissioners of Inquiry, upon the forfeited Estates in Scotland."

6. "An Abstract of the Claims on the forfeited Estates in Scotland."

7. "A Table of Fees for receiving and registering Claims."

The Message sent to the House of Commons on Tuesday last, relating to the Attendance of the Commissioners of Inquiry and Sir David Dalrymple as this Day, and the Report of the Masters who carried the said Message, were read.

As was also read, a Message to the House of Commons, as entered in the Journal of this House of the 8th of December 1696, desiring the Attendance of Two of their Members, in relation to the Bill for the Attainder of Sir John Fenwick; and the Answer of the Commons to the said Message.

Then the aforementioned Return from the Commissioners on the forfeited Estates was likewise read.

Forfeited Estates, Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for vesting the forfeited Estates in Great Britain and Ireland in Trustees, to be sold, for the Use of the Public; and for giving Relief to lawful Creditors, by determining the Claims; and for the more effectual bringing into the respective Exchequers the Rents and Profits of the said Estates, till sold."

And, after long Debate; and hearing the Opinions of the Barons of the Exchequer on this Question, (videlicet,) "Whether the Methods of proceeding before the Judges, according to the ordinary Course of Law, will be more expeditious, or less expensive, than by the Methods proposed by the said Bill?"

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall be committed?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Saturday next; and the Lords to be summoned.
