Bury St. Edmund's Writ.
Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to
the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a new Writ, for electing a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the
Borough of Bury St. Edmonds in the County of Suffolk,
in the room of Henry Goldwell Esquire, deceased.

An ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, intituled, An Act
for settling the Estate of Sir John Maynard Knight,
deceased, late one of the Lords Commissioners for the
Custody of the Great Seal of England, was read the
Second time.

Chaplin's Estate.
The Lords have agreed to the Bill, intituled, An Act
for Sale of the Estate of Susan Chaplin, and Dorothy Chaplin her Daughter, for Payment of Debts, and making
Provision for the said Susan and Dorothy, without any
Amendments: Also,
A. Turner's Estate.
They have agreed to the Amendment, make by this
House, to the Bill, intituled, An Act to enable the Trustees of Alice Turner Widow, and her Children, to make
Sale of certain Houses and Ground in or near Lincoln'sInn-Fields, in the County of Middlesex, during the Minority of the younger Children: Also,
Mildmay's Estate.
They have agreed to the Bill, intituled, An Act to
vest the Estate of Mary, Eliz. Jane, Arabella, Lucy, and
Anne Mildmay, in Trustees, to be sold for Satisfaction of
Mortgages and Debts thereupon; and preserving the
Overplus, for their Benefit; with some Amendments:
To which Amendments their Lordships desire the Concurrence of this House.

Preventing Stockjobbing.
A Petition of several Merchants, on behalf of themselves, and divers other Merchants and Tradesmen in and
about the City of London, and elsewhere, was presented
to the House, and read; setting forth, That a Bill is now
depending in the House for preventing Abuses in selling
Interests in joint Stocks: That if the same should pass
into a Law as it is now worded, it would be of dangerous
Consequence; and a Means to ruin Trade: And praying,
That they may be heard by their Counsel to offer their
Reasons against the Passing of the said Bill.
Resolved, That the said Petition be rejected.
Preventing Export of Wool, &c.
A Petition of the Clothiers of the County of Oxon was
presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That
the Petitioners were lately informed, That a Bill is now
in this House for preventing the Exportation of Wool,
Fulling and Scouring Earth, by altering the Penalty; and
for better regulating the Blackwell-hall Factors; whereby
the Petitioners are obliged to sell their Cloth at Blackwellhall, and no where else; which is contrary to the Course
of Trade in which the Petitioners were bred up, and which
they do not understand: That they ought to be encouraged in their Trade, and have the Liberty to sell in the
best way they can; and not be restrained by the said Bill:
And praying, That the said Bill may be rejected; or that
they may be heard against the same.
Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition
be referred to the Committee, to whom the said Bill is
committed.
Supply Bill; Duties on Salt, &c.
An ingrossed Bill for granting to their Majesties certain
Rates and Duties upon Salt, and upon Beer, Ale, and
other Liquors, for securing certain Recompences and
Advantages, in the said Bill mentioned, to such Persons
as shall voluntarily advance the Sum of Ten hundred
thousand Pounds, towards carrying on the War against
France, was read the Third time.
And several Amendments were severally proposed to be
made; viz.
Press 8. L. last, to leave out "the," and insert "yours."
Pr. * * after "or," to insert "that hereafter shall be
granted by."
* * After "Excise," to insert "not exceeding the
present Number in each Office."
Pr. 10. L. 37, to leave out "in order to export the
same beyond Seas; or."
And the same were, upon the Question severally put
thereupon, agreed unto by the House; and the Bill
amended at the Table accordingly.
Another Amendment was proposed to be made; Pr. 7.
L. 28, after the Word "export," to insert "into Ireland,
or:"
And the Question being put, That the House do agree
to the said Amendment;
It passed in the Negative.
An ingrossed Clause was offered, as a Rider, touching
Rock-Salt refined:

the Duties upon Salt in the County of Durham and Northumberland shall be paid at the Rate of Pounds
Weight to every Gallon:

Another ingrossed Proviso was offered, as a Rider,
That Thomas Neall, Esquire, may be employed in the Management of the Advantages given the Contributors upon
the Act:
And the same was read Three times; and, upon the
Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House to be
made Part of the Bill.
Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title
be, An Act for granting to their Majesties certain Rates
and Duties upon Salt, and upon Beer, Ale, and other

Supplies to be granted to their Majesties, for the Maintenance of the Fleet, and Land-Forces, for the Service
of the Year 1694.

Resolved, That this House will, To-morrow Morning

Service of the Year One thousand Six hundred Ninetyfour.
Disfranchising Stockbridge Borough.
Ordered, That the Report from the Committee, to
whom the Bill for disabling the Borough of Stockbridge,
in the County of Southampton, to send Burgesses to serve
in Parliament for the future, was committed, be taken
into Consideration on Thursday Morning next.
African Company.
Ordered, That the Report from the Committee, to
whom the Petition of the Royal African Company of
England was referred, be taken into Consideration upon
Saturday Morning next.
Woollen Manufactures.
Ordered, That the Report from the Committee, to
whom the Bill for reviving the Act, made in the First Year
of their Majesties Reign, for preventing the Exportation
of Wool; and encouraging the Woollen Manufactures of
this Kingdom; was committed; be taken into Consideration upon Tuesday Morning next.
