Privilege in relation to Suits at Law.
ORDERED, That the Committee appointed to
consider how the Privileges of the Members of this
House, in relation to Suits in Law and Equity, may be
regulated and limited, have Leave to sit in a Morning,
before the Sitting of the House.
Thames Locks and Weirs.
Ordered, That the Committee, to whom the Examination and Consideration of the Petition of divers Freeholders, Barge-masters, and other Inhabitants, within the
several Counties of Gloucester, Oxford, Berks, and Bucks,
is referred, have Leave to sit in a Morning before the
Sitting of this House.
East-Grinsted Writ.
Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the
Clerk of the Crown, to make out a new Writ, for electing
a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of East-Grinsted in the County of Sussex, in the
room of Simon Smith Esquire, deceased.
Preventing Export of Wool.
Ordered, That the Committee, to whom the Bill for the
better preventing the Exportation of Wool, by altering
the Penalty; and for the Preservation of the publick
Market at Blackwell-hall; and for Relief of the Workmen employed in the Woollen Manufactures, in Payment
of their Wages; is committed; have Leave to sit in a
Morning, before the Sitting of the House.
Elections—incapacitating Persons refusing Oaths.
Ordered, That the Bill to disable all Persons from
voting in Elections of Members to serve in Parliament,
who shall refuse to take the Oaths to the Government, be
read the First time upon Monday Morning next, at Eleven
a Clock.
Tryals for Treason.
Resolved, That this House will, upon Friday Morning
next, take into Consideration the Amendments, made by
the Lords, to the Bill, intituled, An Act for regulating
of Tryals in Cases of High Treason, and Misprision of
Treason.
Supply Bill; Land Tax.
The House proceeded in the further Consideration of the
Report from the Committee of the whole House, to whom
the Bill for granting to his Majesty an Aid of Four Shillings
in the Pound for One Year, for carrying on the War against
France with Vigour; and also the Bill for applying the
yearly Sum of Three hundred thousand Pounds, out of
the Duties arising by an Act of this present Session of Parliament, intituled, An Act for granting to their Majesties
a Subsidy of Tonage and Poundage, and other Sums of
Money payable upon Merchandizes exported and imported, for carrying on the War against France with
Vigour; were committed.
And several other of the Amendments made by the
Committee were severally read a Second time; and, upon
the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the
House.
Amendment, Fo. 40. L. 17, being read a Second time,
to insert "his Majesty, his;"
An Amendment was proposed to be made, by inserting between "Majesty" and "his" the Word "and,"
in order to a further Amendment, relating to the Word
Heirs:
And the Question being put, That the Word "and"
be inserted.

Clause B, That no Person shall act as a Commissioner
unless he pay, in his own Right, within the Place for which
he acts as a Commissioner, being read a Second time;
And the Question being put, That the House do agree
with the Committee in the said Amendment;
It passed in the Negative.
The Residue of the Amendments, being severally read
a Second time, were, upon the Question severally put
thereupon, agreed unto by the House.
A Clause was offered to be added to the Bill, for Explanation of the Oath taken by the Officers of the Customhouse, That it shall not extend to any Reward given
voluntarily to any subordinate Officer for Service done at
Times and Places not required by Law:
And the same was read the First time.
And the Question being put, That it be read a Second
time;
It passed in the Negative.
Another Clause was offered also, for the Explanation
of the said Oath:

a Second time;
It passed in the Negative.
Another Clause was offered for the enlarging the Time
for the said Officers to take the Oaths:

And the Question being proposed, That the said Clause
be read a Second time;
