Prayers.

Rumney Writ.

SIR William Twisden, Baronet, being returned a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Apulby, in the County of Westmoreland; and also a Baron for the Port of Rumney, in the County of Kent; made his Election to serve for the Borough of Apulby;

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a new Writ, for the electing a Baron to serve in this present Parliament for the Port of Rumney, in the County of Kent, in the room of Sir William Twisden Baronet, who hath made his Election to serve for the Borough of Apulby, in the County of Westmoreland.

Ease of Sheriffs.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for the better Ease of Sheriffs in passing their Accounts: And that Mr. Harley do prepare, and bring in, the Bill.

Preventing Escapes.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for the better preventing and prosecuting Escapes, and remedying other Inconveniencies in the Law relating thereunto: And that Sir John Kay and Mr. Brewer do prepare, and bring in, the Bill.

Credit of the Nation.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of that Part of his Majesty's Speech, which relates to the Credit of the Nation.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported from the said Committee, That they had come to a Resolution; which they had directed him to report, when the House will please to receive the same.

Resolved, That the said Report be now made.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported the Resolution of the said Committee; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same was read; and is as followeth; viz.

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That, during the Continuance of the Bank of England no other Bank shall be established by Act of Parliament.

The said Resolution being read a Second time;

Resolved, That this House doth agree with the Committee in the said Resolution, That, during the Continuance of the Bank of England no other Bank shall be established by Act of Parliament.

Sir Thomas Littleton also acquainted the House, That he was directed by the said Committee to move, That they may have Leave to sit again.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Saturday Morning next, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of that Part of his Majesty's Speech, which relates to the Credit of the Nation.

State of the Nation.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Monday Morning next, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the State of the Nation.

Ways and Means.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Tuesday Morning next, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of Ways and Means for raising the Supply granted to his Majesty for carrying on the War against France, for the Service of the Year 1697.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
