Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for the more easy Acknowleging of Deeds in the Country, in order to be inrolled: And that Mr. Pocklington and Mr. Farrer do prepare, and bring in, the Bill.

A Petition of John Kakewell and Alexander Gambell, on the behalf of themselves, and others, Troopers, who served in the Wars of Ireland under Colonel Villers, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That, by Order of this House, the last Session of Parliament, the Lord Coningsby and Mr. Fox reported, That there was due to the Petitioners, for their Irish Arrears, the Sum of 2,222 l. 3s. 7¾ d. to clear them to the 1st April 1692: And praying, That the House would order the Payment of their said Arrears; for which they have solicited these three Years last past; some Troopers having perished for want of Bread.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to a Committee: And that they do examine the Matter thereof; and report the same to the House:

And it is referred to Sir Henry Colt, Sir Math. Andrews, Mr. Sloane, Mr. Pagit, Mr. St. John, Mr. Gery, Mr. Pocklington, Mr. Buller, Mr. Brownlow, Mr. Colt, Sir Robert Cotton, Sir Tho. Day, Sir Wm. An ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, intituled, An Act explaining a former Act of Parliament, intituled, An Act for enabling Trustees to sell Part of the Estate of Edmund Warner, deceased, for Payment of his Debts, and preserving the rest for the Benefit of his Heir, was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time, upon this Day Fortnight.

Newfound land Trade.

A Petition of the Mayor, Aldermen, and CommonCouncil, of the City of Bristoll; and also of the Merchants, and other Inhabitants, within the said City, trading for Newfoundland; was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That the said Trade is very advantageous to this Nation; not only as it hath been a Nursery for Seamen, but also as it enricheth the Kingdom by the Fish taken out of those Seas, and sold in foreign Markets: That the said Trade hath, of late, been very much neglected; and the Traders thither become a Prey to the French the last Year: And praying the House to take care for the Security of the Trade to Newfoundland.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee, to whom the Petition of the Mayor, Magistrates, and Common-Council, and other Traders, of and from the Town of Dartmouth, and Parts adjacent, is referred.

Discount on Bank Bills.

A Petition of the Mayor, Deputy-Recorder, Aldermen, and Burgesses, together with divers Tradesmen, residing in and near the Town of Taunton, in the County of Somerset, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That, by reason of the Non-currency of old ham mered Money, but by Weight only, the Petitioners are put to great Streights for Money for their necessary Subsistence, much less, to carry on their Trades; whereby their Calamities are such, that the Poors Rate is more than Onethird higher than of late, and daily rises: That the great Discount of Bank-Bills, for ready Money, is of very ill Consequence to Trade: And praying an effectual Provision for better Payment of Bank-Bills; and that the Country Mints may be obliged to dispatch their Coinage, which will give a new Life to Trade.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee of the whole House, who are to consider of the State of the Nation.
