Prayers.

Keyser's, &c. Nat.

AN ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, for the Naturalization of John Keyser, and others, was read the Third time.

Resolved, That the Bill, with the Amendments, do pass.

Ordered, That Mr. Shackerly do carry the Bill to the Lords, and acquaint them, That this House hath agreed to the same, with some Amendments: To which Amendments they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Neve's Estate.

A Bill to supply a Defect in an Act, passed this Session of Parliament, for enabling Oliver Neve, of Great Witchingham, in the County of Norfolk, Esquire, to sell Two Houses, in London; and for settling other Lands, in the said County, of greater Value, to the same Uses; was read a Second time.

Resolved, That the Bill be committed to Sir Henry Hobart, Sir John Manwaring, Mr. Blofeild, Sir Jacob Ashley, Sir Tho. Dyke, Mr. Gardner, Mr. Foley, Mr. Norris, Mr. Hammond, Mr. Brotherton, Mr. Baldwyn, Mr. Fleming, Sir Cha. Carteret, Mr. Gray, Mr. Frewen, Mr. Heveningham, Mr. Rowney, Mr. Shackerly, Sir John Cotton, Sir Wm. Lowther, Lord Cheney, Mr. Phillips, Sir John Turner, Sir Edw. Williams, Mr. Tilney, Lord Castleton, Sir Wm. Bowes, Mr. Beake, Sir Tho. Roberts, Mr. Monstevens, Sir Geo. Hungerford, Mr. Swift, Mr. Osborne, Mr. Ashby, Mr. Woodrofe, Sir Tho. James' Estate.

Mr. Baldwyn reported from the Committee, to whom the ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act for vesting and settling certain Estates of Wm. James Gentleman in and upon Trustees, to be sold, for the Payment of Debts, and making Provision for himself, his Wife, and their Children, was committed, That they had examined and considered the same, and had made several Amendments to the Bill; which they had directed him to report to the House; and which he read in his Place, with the Coherence; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were read; and are as follow; viz.

Press 1. L. 3. after "Gentleman," add "and John James, then Son, and Heir apparent of the said Wm. James:"

Press 1. L. 6. after "Pounds," leave out to "all," in L. 9. and insert "in and by One Indenture Quinquepartite, made the 18th Day of January, in the Year of our Lord 1685, between the said William James and Eliz. his Wife, and the said John James, of the First Part; Robert Bird, of Staples-Inn, in London, Gentleman, of the 2d Part; John Foch, of London, Gentleman, on the 3d Part; and George Fryer, of London, Gentleman, on the 4th Part; and Derby Long, of the Inner Temple, London, Esquire, and Walt. Vincent, of the Middle Temple, London, Esquire, of the 5th Part; and by virtue of the Fine and Recovery therein mentioned; did grant and convey:"

The said Amendments, being read a Second time, one by one, were, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Fallowes' Estate.

An ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, intituled, An Act to enable William Fallowes, an Infant, to sell an Estate, in the County of Chester, to pay Debts, secured by Mortgages, was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Dormer have Leave to go into the Country for a Fortnight, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Sir Robert Jenkinson have Leave to go into the Country, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Blackwell-hall Market.

Sir George Hungerford, according to Order, reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill to restore the Market for Woollen Cloths in Blackwell-hall, and Welchhall, to the Clothiers, was committed, That they had made several Amendments to the Bill; which they had directed him to report to the House; and which he read in his Place, with the Coherence; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout; and then a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

A Clause was offered, to be added to the Bill, with Blanks, That * * * *.

And the same was twice read; and the Blanks filled up; and the same was, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

St. Olave's Church Southwark.

A Petition of the Rector, Churchwardens, and the principal Inhabitants, of the Parish of St. Olave's, in Southwark, in the County of Surrey, in behalf of themselves, and others the Inhabitants of the said Parish, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That the Church of the said Parish is extemely out of Repair, and in Danger of falling down; the said Parish being unable to repair the same, by reason of their great Numbers of Poor, who yearly cost them 2,500l.; and this Year is like to increase to near 3,000l. which shews the great Consumption of Coals in the said Parish: And praying, That they may have a convenient Share of the Duty upon Coals, desired by the Bill, depending in the House, for the completing the building and adorning the Cathedral Church of Saint Paul's, London, to be applied to the Rebuilding of the said Parish-church.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee of the whole House, to whom the said Bill is committed.

Ordered That Mr. Buller have Leave to go into the Country, for Recovery of his Health.

Lord Fairfax's Estate.

Ordered, That Mr. Mitchell, Sir Robert Burdett, Mr. Serjeant Coward, Sir Richard Temple, Sir Fra. Molyneux, Sir Geo. Hungerford, Sir Robert Cotton; and all the Members that serve for the Counties of Kent and Sussex; be added to the Committee, to whom the Bill for enabling the Right Honourable the Lord Fairfax to raise Monles, charged by the late Lord Culpeper, on his Estate, is committed.

Hay-market Paving, &c.

Ordered, That Mr. Mountstevens, Mr. Whitaker, Sir Thomas Day, Mr. Henley, Dr. Barbone, Sir Tho. Roberts, be added to the Committee, to whom the Bill for repairing, paving, and regulating, the Hay-market, within the Parishes of St. Martin's in the Fields, and St. James', within the Liberty of Westminster, is committed.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Worsley have Leave to go into the Country for a Fortnight, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Proceedings in Courts of Equity.

Ordered, That the Bill for regulating Proceedings in Chancery, and other Courts of Equity, be read a Second time upon this Day Sevennight.

Abuses in the Mint at York.

A Motion being made, and the Question being put, That Mr. Barton be allowed to make his Defence, at the Bar, To-morrow Morning, by Counsel;

It passed in the Negative.

A Bill for a general Naturalization, was, according to Order, read a Second time.

Mr. Dolben reported from the Committee of the whole House, to whom the Bill for continuing the additional Impositions upon several Goods and Merchandizes was committed, the Amendments, made by the Committee, to the said Bill; which he read in his Place, with the Coherence; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout; and then a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

Party Guiles in brewing.

Ordered, That the Bill to repeal a Clause in a former Act, relating to party Guiles, be read a Second time To-morrow Morning.

Ways and Means.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of Ways and Means for raising the Supply granted to his Majesty, for carrying on the War against France, for the Service of the Year 1697; and for the Support of the Civil List, for the same Year.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.
Sir Thomas Littleton took the Chair of the Committee.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported from the said Committee, That they had considered the Matter to them referred; and had come to several Resolutions; which they had directed him to report, when the House will please to receive the same.
