Prayers.

R. Smith's Estate.

AN ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, intituled, An Act for the vesting of several Lands, late belonging to Robert Smith Esquire, deceased, in Trustees, to be sold for the Payment of his Debts, was, according to Order, read a Second time.

Resolved, That the Bill be committed to Mr. Poultny, Mr. Gwyn, Sir Thomas Roberts, Mr. Roberts, Mr. Brotherton, Sir Gilbert Clerke, Sir Jacob Ashly, Mr. Fuller, Mr. Lowther, Mr. Watlington, Mr. Blofeild, Mr. Baldwyn, Mr. England, Sir John Bolls, Sir Math. Andrews, Mr. Mawdit, Mr. Blake, Mr. Mountstevens, Mr. Lampton, Mr. Osborne, Mr. Phillips, Sir Edward Seaward, Mr. Gery, Sir St. Andrew St. John, Sir John Mordent, Sir Joseph Tyly, Lord Hyde, Mr. Colt, Mr. Kirkby, Mr. Morgan, Sir John Kay, Mr. Bockland, Mr. Frewen; And they are to meet this Afternoon, at Five a Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Exon Workhouses.

Sir Joseph Tyly reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill for erecting Hospitals and Work-houses within the City, and County of the City, of Exon, for the better employing and maintaining the Poor there, was committed, That they had examined and considered the same; and the Petition of Dr. Bury, which was referred to the said Committee; and that they had made several Amendments to the Bill; which they had directed him to report to the House; as also the Matter upon the said Petition specially; which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the said Report was read; and is as followeth; viz.

The Words of the Will are:

"And, that I may return some further Tribute of Thankfulness to my most gracious God, for his singular Goodness towards me, That (fn. 1) [if] within Twenty Years, after the Date of this my Will, there shall be, within the Parish of St. Sidwell's in the County of the City of Exeter, founded, erected, and established, a convenient and sufficent Work-house, wherein all the poor People of that Parish, that shall be able to work, shall be maintained therein, and kept to Work; then, and so long as the said Employment shall be continued, I give, devise, and bequeath, unto the Master, Governor, Steward, Treasurer, or Receiver, of the said Work-house, that shall be so erected by and within the Time aforesaid, for the Time being, for ever, the annual or yearly Rent of Forty Pounds, to be paid quarterly, by even Portions, out of my Lands and Estate hereafter expressed; viz. 30 l. thereof to be issuing, due, and payable, out of the Barton of Nether Stower alias Nether-Stofford, in the Parish of Cullyton Rawleigh, in the County of Devon; Eight Pounds and Eight Shillings more thereof, which I have already reserved in my Deed made to the Dean and Chapter of St. Peter's in Exeter, bearing Date the 12th Day of May, in the 17th Year of his Majesty's Reign, that now is, over England, &c. as the Remainder of the Rent of Twenty-five Pounds per Annum, among other charitable Uses therein mentioned, issuing out of my Tenement in the Parish of Tiverton, commonly called Rock alias Woodend: and the other 32s. Residue thereof, to be issuing, due, and payable, out of that little Messuage or Cottage, with its Appurtenances, situate and being in Broad Minett, now in Possession of William, after the Death and Decease of Elizabeth Lethbridge: And my Will is, That, before the said Work-house shall be so erected, as aforesaid, the Eight Pounds, issuing out of my Tenement in Tiverton aforesaid, shall be paid to the Churchwardens of Tiverton aforesaid, for the Time being, for the Uses hereafter mentioned; that is to say, To buy therewith, every Christmas, Eight Gowns for Eight poor Alms-men of Tiverton aforesaid; and J.B. to be set upon the Sleeve, in Red; and the Overplus thereof to be employed for buying of Shoes for them; and the Eight Shillings remaining to be given to the Clerk, for his Care. Item, I do ordain and nominate Five Feoffees, in Trust, to see the due Performance hereof; viz. Mr. Peter Blundell, Mr. George Hartenell, Mr. John Blagden, Mr. Bernard Goddard, Mr. Robert Chattey, and my Nephew Mr. James Clark: And, as soon as any Two of the said Feoffees shall happen to depart this Life, my Will is, that their Number be supplied by Two others, to be nominated by the Three Survivors."

The Will, dated the 15th June, 19° Car. 2di, Annoque Domini 1667.

Afterwards the said Amendments were once read throughout; and then a Second time, one by one; and upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

Lord Lisburne's Estate.

The Lord William Pawlet reported from the Committee, to whom the ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, intituled, An Act for the better settling the several Estates of the Right honourable John Lord Viscount Lisburn, in the Kingdom of Ireland, and the Lady Viscountess his Wife, was committed, That they had examined and considered the same; and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment: And he delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table.

Qualifying for Offices.

An ingrossed Bill, for giving time to several Persons to qualify themselves for their Offices, Trusts, and Employments, was read the Third time.

And an Amendment was proposed to be made in the Bill, Pr. 2. L. 6, by leaving out "entered," and inserting "subscribed," instead thereof:

And the same was, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House; and the Bill amended at the Table accordingly.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act for giving time to several Persons to qualify themselves for their Offices, Trusts, and Employments.

Ordered, That Mr. Farrer do carry the Bill to the Lords, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

Ayre and Calder Navigation.

Ordered, That the ingrossed Bill to make the Rivers Ayre and Calder in the County of York, navigable, be read the Third time, upon Saturday Morning next.

Privilege.

A Complaint being made to the House, That Mr. Smith, Under-Sheriff of the County of Middlesex, and John Bayly, and William Dainter, Two Bailiffs of Middlesex, had, in Breach of the Privilege of this House, entered into the Dwelling-house of Thomas Neale Esquire, a Member of this House, upon Account of Arrears of Taxes, although the said Mr. Smith had before accepted a Bill for the same, which he might have received in Exchequer-Bills;

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Complaint be referred to the Committee of Privileges and Elections; And that they do, this Afternoon, examine the Matter; and report the same, with their Opinion therein, to the House.

Ordered, That the said Mr. Smith, John Bayly, and William Dainter, do attend the said Committee this Afternoon.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Colonel Rolles have Leave to go into the Country for Three Weeks, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Sir Gilbert Clarke have Leave to go into the Country, for Recovery of his Health.

Ordered, That Mr. Richard Howe have Leave to go into the Country, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Russia Trade:

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee of the whole House, to whom the Bill for encouraging and improving the Trade to Russia was committed, be made upon Monday Morning next.

Ways and Means.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of Ways and Means for raising the Supply granted to his Majesty.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported from the said Committee, That they had come to several Resolutions; which they had directed him to report, when the House will please to receive the same.

Ordered, That the Report be made To-morrow Morning.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees be revived.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
