Garon's, &c. Nat.

THE House took into Consideration the Amendments, made by the Lords, to the Bill, intituled, An Act for naturalizing Peter Garon, and others:

Which, being twice read, were agreed unto by the House, upon the Question put thereupon; and are as follow; viz.

Pr. 2. L., 13, after "Bearne," add "David Langenmantell, Son of Henry Langenmantell, by Anna Regina his Wife, born in Augsbourgh, in Germany; John Baptista Schorer, Son of John Schorer, by Sarah his Wife, born at Hamburgh; and William Bichet, Son of William Bichet, by Esther his Wife, born at Deip, in Normandy."

L. 34, after, "Casa Major," add "David Langenmantell, John Baptista Schorer, and William Bichet."

Pr. 4. L. 1. after "Casa Major," add "David Langenmantell, John Baptista Schorer, and William Bichet."

Ordered, That Mr. Yates do carry the Bill to the Lords, and acquaint them, That this House hath agreed to the said Amendments.

Trafford's Estate.

Mr. Brotherton reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill for enabling Humphrey Trafford Esquire to raise 4,000l. upon his Estate, for Payment of his Debts, was committed, That they had made some Amendments; which they had directed him to report to the House; which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout; and then a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That the Bill with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

Cecil's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, intituled, An Act for vesting certain Lands and Hereditaments in Maidstone, and elsewhere, in the County of Kent, in Trustees, for the Benefit of Diana Cecil, and her Heirs, was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time upon Wednesday Morning next.

East-India Trade.

A Petition of the Masters, Wardens, and Assistants, of the Company of Weavers, in the City of Canterbury, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That the Petitioners Trade depends on weaving all Sorts of flowered, striped, and plain, Silks, and Stuffs mixed with Silk and Wool; and hath, of late Years, been very much diminished, by the Importation and Consumption of India wrought Silks and Stuffs: That, the Petitioners are informed, this honourable House is about settling the East-India Trade; which, if done without Restriction, will inevitably destroy all this Manufacture: And praying such Impositions may be further laid on all Silks, and Stuffs mixed with Silk, as may enable them to carry on their Manufacture; or such other Restrictions, as shall seem meet.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee of the whole House, to whom the said Bill is committed.

Ditto.

A Petition of the Mayor and Commonalty of the City of Canterbury was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That the Trade of weaving all sorts of Silks, and Stuffs mixed with Wool and Silk, within this City, hath employed and maintained a great Number of poor People, who have lived very comfortably, till, of late Years, the said Trade hath decreased, and the Poor left destitute, without Employment: And praying, That the House would give Encouragement to the said Trade, by the Bill now depending for settling the East-India Trade.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee of the whole House, to whom the said Bill is committed.

Registring Ships.

A Petition of several Merchants trading to the Plantions in America, on behalf of themselves, and others, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That the Petitioners are interested, as Owners, in several Ships, that sailed from London, and other foreign Parts, into the Plantations in America: That, upon the Arrival of several of the said Ships there, the Governors, or other Officers, seized and stopped the same, for want of a Certificate, according to the Act for preventing Frauds, and regulating Abuses, in the Plantation-Trade; which was really omitted through Inadvertency and Ignorance of the Petitioners: And praying, That the Petitioners may be relieved, so that their said Ships may not incur the Penalties of the said Act, for omitting only to register the said Ships pursuant thereunto.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for enlarging the Time for Six Months, for registring Ships which are English Built, and English Property.

Ordered, That in the said Bill be included Prize Ships to be named, and proved to be lawfully condemned by the Admiralty, and bought: And that Mr. Jeffrys and Mr. Moore do prepare, and bring in, the Bill.

Preventing false Election Returns.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Thursday Morning next, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the Bill for making more effectual an Act, made in the 23d Year of the Reign of King Henry the Sixth, for remedying false and undue Returns of Members of Parliament; and also to prevent Double Returns.

African Trade.

The House proceeded to take into Consideration the Amendments, made by the Lords, to the Bill, intituled, An Act to settle the Trade to Africa;

And the same were twice read; and, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House; and are as follow; viz.

4 Sk. 16 L. after "that," insert "to the best of his Knowledge and Belief"

L. 28, after "permitting," add "or not being hindered by other unavoidable Accidents."

7 Sk. 18 L. for "England," read "Africa."

Ordered, That Mr. Norris do carry the Bill to the Lords, and acquaint them, That this House hath agreed to the said Amendments.

Duties on Low Wines.

A Bill to prevent the Frauds and Abuses of Distillers, and others chargeable with the Duties upon low Wines, and Spirits, was read a Second time.

Resolved, That the Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Wednesday Morning next, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the said Bill.

Ordered, That it be an Instruction to the said Committee, That they do leave out that Clause in the Bill, which relates to Cyder.

E. I. Company's Revenues in India.

Ordered, That the East-India Company, do, upon Monday Morning next, lay before this House an Account of all their Revenues in India, and also of the Charges of their Forts.

Inspection of E. I. C. Books.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee appointed to inspect the Books of the East-India Company be made upon Tuesday Morning next.

Supply Bill; Poll Tax.

Ordered, That the Committee of the whole House, to whom the Bill for granting to his Majesty an Aid, by a Quarterly Poll, for One Year, is committed, have Power to receive a Clause of Loan upon the said Bill, and upon the Act for the Duties upon Coal and Culm.

Supply Bill; Duties on Salt.

Ordered, That the further Consideration of the Bill for granting to his Majesty, his Heirs and Successors, several additional Duties on Salt, be referred to the Committee of the whole House, to whom the Bill for raising a Sum, not exceeding Two Millions, by settling a perpetual Fund for Payment of certain Annuities, after the Rate of Eight Pounds per Annum for every Hundred Pounds, and by further Advantages therein mentioned, redeemable by Parliament, is committed: And that they do consolidate the same.

Supply Bill; Poll Tax.

The House, according to Order, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the Bill for granting to his Majesty an Aid, by a Quarterly Poll, for One Year.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Tho. Littleton took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported from the said Committee, That they had gone through the Bill; and made several Amendments thereunto; which they had directed him to report, when the House will please to receive the same.

Ordered, That the Report be made upon Monday Morning next.

Impeachment of Goudet, &c.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Monday Morning next, take into Consideration the Message from the Lords, relating to the Tryal of the Impeachments against John Goudet, and others.

And then the House adjourned till Monday Morning, Ten a Clock.
