Prayers.

Army Arrears.

A PETITION of Thomas Dilks and Patrick Mullins, in behalf of themselves, and others, belonging to his Majesty's late Descent Train of Artillery, commanded by Sir Martin Beckman, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That * * * *

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee, to whom the Petition of the Soldiers of Colonel Coote's Regiment is referred.

Prohibition of foreign Bone-lace.

A Petition of several wholesale Dealers in Bone-lace, in Buckinghamshire, in behalf of themselves, and many others, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That many thousand Families are kept at work, in making Bone-lace, by the late Act for Prohibition of the said Commodity from foreign Parts: That the Petitioners are informed, there are several Petitions depending in this House, for the repealing the said Act: And praying to be heard, before any thing be done to weaken the Prohibition of the Importation of foreign Bone-lace.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee, to whom the Petition of the Gentlemen, Clothiers, Clothworkers, Traders in the Woollen Manufactures, and other the Inhabitants of the Town of Ratchdale, in the County Palatine of Lancaster, is referred.

Copper Coinage.

Ordered, That the Bill to prevent the Coining of Halfpence or Farthings, for One Year, be read a Second time To-morrow at Eleven a Clock.

Privilege of Witnesses.

A Complaint being made to the House, That Agent Richard Roberts, being summoned to attend the Committee, to whom the Petition of the Soldiers of Colonel Coot's Regiment was referred, had, on Monday last, been taken in Execution, at the Suit of Antony Morris, by Stephen Morris Attorney, and John Browne Bailiff, in Breach of the Privilege of this House;

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of Privileges and Elections, to examine the Matter of the said Complaint; and report the same, with their Opinion therein, to the House.

Scott's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, intituled, An Act to enable Trustees to sell Part of the Estate of George Scott Esquire, to pay his Debts, and raise Portions for his Brothers and Sister; and to settle other Part of his Estate; was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.

Aldworth's Estate.

Mr. Rowny reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill to enable Robert Aldworth and Anne his Wife, to sell their Estate, in or near Wantage, in the County of Berks, for raising of 300 l. for Payment of his Debts; and for applying the Residue of the Money arising by the Sale, for the purchasing some other Estate, for the sole Benefit of his Wife, and Children; was committed; That they had examined and considered the same; and had made some Amendments thereunto; which they had directed him to report to the House; which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout; and then a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

Methwold's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill for vesting Part of the Estate of Thomas Methwold Esquire, in Trustees, for raising the Sum of One thousand Two hundred Pounds, expended in the Improvement of the said Estate, was read the Third time.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act to enable Thomas Methwold Esquire to raise the Sum of 1,200 l. upon his Estate, by him laid out in improving the same.

Ordered, That Mr. Hoar do carry the Bill to the Lords, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

Hough's Estate.

Mr. Brotherton reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill for the Sale of the Estate of Zenobia Hough, for the Payment of the Debts of her Husband, and other Uses, was committed, That they had examined and considered the same; and had made some Amendments thereunto; which they had directed him to report to the House; which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout; and then a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

Supply.

Mr. Cowper reported, from the Committee of the whole House, to whom it was referred to consider further of the Supply to be granted to his Majesty, the Resolutions, which they had directed him to report to the House; which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were read; and are as follow; viz.

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That Provision be made, from time to time, for making good the Principal, and Interest, due on all Parliamentary Funds granted since his Majesty's happy Accession to the Crown.

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That a further Provision be made, within the Year 1699, for the Exchequer-Bills.

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That Provision be made for securing, and paying off, the Principal, and Interest, due on the Aid of Three Shillings in the Pound, payable to his Majesty in the Year 1697.

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That Provision be made for the paying, and discharging, the Principal, and Interest, due on the Duties granted by an Act, made in the Eighth and Ninth Years of his Majesty's Reign, intituled, An Act for granting to his Majesty several Duties upon Paper, Vellom, and Parchment, to encourage the bringing of Plate, and hammered Monies, into the Mints, to be coined.

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That Provision be made for the paying and discharging all Principal, and Interest, due on such of the MaltTickets as are, or shall be, deficient.

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That Provision be made for paying, and discharging, the Arrears of the Annuities lately charged on the TonageDuties, and now on the additional Excise.

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That Provision be made for securing, and paying, the Principal and Interest, of the Debt due for Transport Service, performed at any time since the Beginning of the late War.

The said Resolutions, being severally read a Second time, were all of them, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House, Nemine contradicente.

Supply Bill; Land Tax.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the Bill for granting to his Majesty the Sum of One million Four hundred Eighty-four thousand Fifteen Pounds One Shilling Eleven-pence Three Farthings, for disbanding the Army, providing for the Navy, and for other necessary Occasions.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Cowper took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Cowper reported from the said Committee, That they had made some Progress in the Matter to them referred; and had directed him to move, That they may have Leave to sit again.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Thursday Morning next, after the Committee of the whole House who are to consider further of the Supply to be granted to his Majesty, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the said Bill.

Ordered, That all Committees be adjourned.
