No. 84 Dean Street

For the first occupant of the former house on this site see the table on page 252. Later occupants were Sir William Burdett Vigors, baronet, 1754; and the painter, William Hamilton, R.A., 1780–3. (fn. 1)

The present building has a four-storeyed front, three windows wide, built in light red brick with stone dressings, and designed in the revived Queen Anne style (Plate 113d). Generally well detailed, with an attractive doorcase and good iron railings, the total effect is somewhat marred by the over-emphatic attic storey with its three round-headed windows.
