Newthorpe (W.R.) (not in Yorks. DB), with mills and tithes, from old preb. Sherburn, given by abp. to treas. in 1218 at time that archdcnry. of E.R. separated from treasurership (Reg. Gray p. 132; Cart. Treas. York no. 23). Preb. included vill of Holgate and tithes of corn and vegetables of Newthorpe, Sherburn in Elmet, South Milford, Lumby, Steeton Hall, Micklefield, Lotherton, Aberford and Huddleston.
