PRAYERS.

Message to Lords.

THAT the Ordinance for the Adventurers Raising of Men; and the Order for the Repayment of Ten thousand Pounds; be carried up to the Lords so soon as they are set.

Lord Lieut. of Ireland.

The Lord Lieutenant of Ireland's Desires presented to the Lords and other Commissioners for Irish Affairs, and from them to this House, according to an Order of this House, were this Day read.

The first Article of the Sum of Three thousand Pounds to be allowed him for Preparation of Necessaries for his Journey, was first debated: And the second concerning an Advance of Pay to be allowed unto him, was likewise debated: And

It was Resolved, upon the Question, That Three Thousand Pounds shall be imprested unto the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, upon Account.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Five thousand Pounds shall be imprested unto the Treasurer at Wars for Ireland, upon Account, to lie ready in his Hands, to be issued out for incident Charges, upon the Lord Lieutenant's Warrants.

Ordered, That Mr. Pym and Mr. Holles shall, from this House, repair unto the Commissioners for the Treasury, and desire them to take some good Order, that the Arrear of Three thousand and Thirty-three Pounds, due to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, upon his Majesty's Allowance, as his Extraordinary Ambassador in France, may be speedily paid unto him.

Objectionable Publication.

A Copy of a printed Letter pretended to be sent from the Lord Pagett unto the honourable House of Parliament, was read: And

It was Ordered, That Hugh Perry, for whom it was printed, be forthwith summoned; and that the Letters itself be referred to the Committee for Informations: Who are to examine the Truth of this Business: And are to sit this Afternoon.

Messenger from Prince of Anhalt.

Information being given, That a Messenger from the Prince of Anhalt was at... Door, who brought Letters from that Prince; One to the King's Majesty; another to the Parliament of England; another to the Parliament of Scotland.

The Messenger was called in, with his Interpreter: Who presented a Letter to this Parliament, and his Letter of Credence, or Passport, in Latin.

And then he was desired to withdraw.

And the Letter of Credence was read.

And then he was called in: And Mr. Speaker told his Interpreter, "That the House had received his Letters, and that they would acquaint the Lords with it; and that he should expect some Answer to this Business To-morrow Morning."

Affairs of the Palatinate.

According to a former Order, the Proposition informed, by the French Ambassador to be made by Sir Tho. Roe, to the King of Hongrie, and the House of Autria, concerning the Restitution of the Palatinate, was this Day read: And it is referred unto Mr. Holles, Mr. Waller, Sir Ben. Rudyard, Mr. Selden, Mr. Pym, Mr. Pierreponte;

This Committee, or any Three of them, are, upon the Debate this Day had of this Business, to prepare an Answer unto it.

Letters from Prince of Anhalt.

Mr. Waller went up to the Lords, to desire a Conference by Committees of both Houses concerning some Letters received from the Prince of Anhalt.

Leave of Absence.

Mr. Polewheele has Leave to go into the Country.

Devon Militia.

Sir Jo. Northcott is injoined to go into Devon, to see the Ordinance of the Militia put in Execution in that County.

Leave of Absence.

Sir Ro. Coke has likewise Leave to go into the Country.

Northampton Militia.

Sir Gilbert Pickering informs the House, how readily and willingly the County of Northampton yielded Obedience to the Ordinance for the Militia: And, that in the whole County, there came in at least Nine hundred Volunteers.

Relief of Persons from Ireland.

Ordered, That the Under Sheriff of the County of Northampton shall pay unto Sir Rowland St. Johns Twenty Pounds out of the Contribution Money for the Relief of many Poor, both English and Irish, lately come out of the Kingdom of Ireland, to Wilbaston, in the County of Northampton.

Publick Accounts.

Ordered, That Mr. Trenchard shall make Report of the State of the Accounts To-morrow Morning, peremptorily, the first Business: And Mr. Speaker is to put the * * *

Prisoner brought up and discharged.

Mr. Wollaston who was formerly sent for as a Delinquent, for Speaking of Words in Discouragement of the Volunteers, was called in; and kneeled at the Bar a little: And then Mr. Speaker told him of the Words that were witnessed here against him by Two Witnesses: He confessed the Effect of the Words.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Wollaston of Waltham Abbey, now in the Serjeant's Custody, be forthwith discharged from any farther Restraint.

Conference, &c.

Mr. Waller brings Answer, That the Lords will give a present Meeting at a Conference, by a Committee of both Houses, as is desired: And, as to the Order for Repayment of the Ten thousand Pounds, the Lords will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Mr. Holles, Mr. Waller, Mr. Pym, Sir Walth. Erle, Mr. Whittacre, are appointed Managers of this Conference.

Answer from Lords.

Sir Jo. Evelyn brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the Amendments to the Declaration concerning the Letter sent from his Majesty to the Lord Mayor of London; and to the Resolution concerning such as shall put the Commission of Array in Execution.

Correspondence with Scotland.

The heads of the Conference are, first to desire that the Letter addressed to the Parliament of England, may be opened at this Conference: And that the Letter addressed to the Parliament of Scotland, may be sealed up as it is, to the Commissioners of Scotland, by the English Commissioners.

Loan from Trinity House.

Sir Ro. Harley, Sir Jo. Evelyn, Mr. Bence, and the Citizens of London, are appointed to treat with the Trinity House, for the Loan of Monies, for these great Occasions.

Salt-petre.

Mr. Vassall, * Spurstoe, * Pury, * Evelyn, are appointed to try the Salt-petre in Mr. Courten's Ship; and to bargain with him for it: And are to call Mr. Cordell, the Powder-maker, with them.

Prisoners for Ireland.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edw. Leech, and Dr. Aylett;

The Lords desire a present Conference, by Committees of both Houses, if it may stand with the Conveniency of this House, concerning some Prisoners for Ireland.

Langor Fort.

A Letter from the Earl of Warwick, of the Seventh of June, to the Earl of Holland, concerning the Fort of Langor Pointe, and the Arrears due to the Soldier there, delivered the other Day at a Conference, was this Day read; and ordered to be referred to the Committee for the Navy.

Navy Victualling.

That the List of the Victualling of his Majesty's Ships, set forth to Sea this present Year 1642, be referred to the Committee for the Navy.

Ordered, That Mr. Samuel Wanley of Leicester shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant for the Carrying to Leicester Thirteen Musquets, Bandaliers, Swords and Belts, and Eight Hand-pieces, by Waggon, Cart, or otherwise.

Deputy Lieutenants.

Resolved, That this House doth approve of Sir Clement Throckmorton and Sir Robert Litton, to be Deputy Lieutenants of the County of Warwick: And the Deputy Lieutenants of that County may have the like Instructions as those of Leicestershire had.

Ordered, That Doctor Owen be summoned to attend the Committee of Informations, this Afternoon.

Member to attend.

Ordered, That Sir Wm. Widdrington give Notice to Sir Wm. Carnaby, that presently, upon the Receipt of his Letter, he repair to attend the Service of the House: And, that if he shall not appear here on this Day Fortnight, that the House will proceed against him for his Contempt.

Coronation Oath.

Mr. Prideaux, Sir Symonds D'Ewes, Mr. Hill, Mr. Constantine, are to search the Records in the Exchequer, and elsewhere, to see what Oath his Majesty took at his Coronation; and what Oaths other Kings, his Majesty's Predecessors, took; and such other Records as they shall think fit.

Proceedings against Lord Macquire, &c.

Mr. Pym reports from the Conference, That the Lords acquainted them, That the Lord Maguire Mac Mahown and Mr. Reade, who were sent for from Ireland, are arrived: And that they have taken Order to have them committed to strict Commitment in the Tower.

Ordered, That the Lords be moved, That a Committee may be appointed to re-examine these Prisoners in the Tower, upon such Interrogatories as they shall frame, upon such Examinations as were taken in Ireland, and sent *.

Mayor, &c. of Exeter.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edw. Leech and Dr. Aylett;

The Lords have received a Letter from the Mayor and Sheriff of the City of Exon; which they have read in their House; and have thought it fit to communicate it to this House.

They have given Order to their Speaker to write a Letter of Thanks to the Mayor and Sheriff; and do desire, that this House would require their Speaker to do the like. And they do desire, that they may have the like Order for their Indemnity, as the Sheriff of Essex had for his.

Resolved, That Thanks shall be returned to the Mayor and Sheriff of Exeter: And that this House does approve of the Sheriff of Exon to be Deputy Lieutenant of the City of Exon: And that the Sheriff shall have the same Order for his Indemnity, as the Sheriff of Essex had for his.

Sir Jo. Northcott, Mr. Strode, and the Burgesses of Exon, are required to prepare a Letter of Thanks: And the Burgesses are to send down unto them the Order.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House agrees with the Lords in all the Particulars of their Message.

Stopping Ld. Dillon, &c.

Ordered, That Mr. Potter do move the Lord Admiral, That the Ports may be stopped against the Lord Dillon, and the Lord Taff, who have broke the Restraint they were in, under the Serjeant's Custody.

Person to be released.

Ordered, That the Person taken in Devon upon Suspicion of being Oneile, and proves since to be Sir Sam. Rolle's Man, be released from any further Restraint.

Ld. Delvin, &c.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Commissioners for Irish Affairs, to consider of the Lord Delvin, and his Company, that are Prisoners stayed by the Mayor of Beaumaris, and in his Custody, and of their Expence: And they are desired to take speedy Consideration of it.

Ordered, That the Mayor of Beaumaris be desired, if the Lord Dillon, or the Lord Taff, do come to pass at any Port or Place within his Jurisdiction, that he take speedy Order for their Stay.
