Communitas, salt.
The bailleis and counsale, onderstanding ane number of salt coft for
the commonetie lyand ontane of the mercheantis handis, and thairthrow
is in perell of tynsall, quhilk man be payit to the mercheantis quhomefra
the same was coft, thairfor it is statute and ordanit that gif ony frieman
of the toun, being chargeit be the drum and thairefter particularle to cum
and resave thair salt efferand to the quantite as salbe sett dovne in roll,
cumes nocht to resave the same, that thai and ilkane of thame salbe
chargeit in warde, thairin to remane quhill thai pay the price of sa mekill
as salbe appoyntit to thame, and the perrell to ly vpon thame for releif
of the towne, and the salt to be bestowit to ane commone vse.

Communitas Quhytlaw.
The bailleis and counsale ordanes William Quhytlaw to paye yerle
to the thesaureris of the towne in tyme cuming vj s. viij d. for the annuell
of his steip trocht and wolt biggit be him wpon the commountie, or ellis
to tak dovne the same agane, and to big na farder for staying of the
passage.
Statute, aill.
The bailleis and counsale present convenand appreives ane act and
statute maid vpon the 7 of Februar 1597 anent the aill, eikand that gif
ony persoune offenderis of brewstares, being convict in jugement for transgressing of the act, salbe chargeit to remane in warde, and nocht relevit
furth thairof quhill thai find cautioune to observe the statutes thairefter,
and nocht to contraveine the same vnder the paine of ten lib. ilk falt, and
the ane half thairof to be applyit to the provest and bailleis, and the vther
half to the commone work of the towne, and to begyn and persew the
browstares on Tysdye nixt for the first court.
