PRAYERS.

Darrell, a Prisoner.

ORDERED, That the State and Condition of Mr. Paul Darrell, now a Prisoner in Bridewell, being taken Prisoner at Sir Alexander Denton's House, be referred to the Committee for Prisoners, to discharge him, if they shall see Cause; taking the Covenant.

Sir Wm. Uvedale.

The Question was propounded, whether Sir Wm. Uvedale shall be now admitted to sit as a Member of the House:

And then the Question was put, whether this Question shall be now put:

The House was divided.

The Noes went forth.

Before the House was quite counted, the Yeas yielded.

So that the Question passed with the Negative.

Resolved, &c. That the Business and Report, concerning Sir Wm. Uvedale, shall be re-committed to the same Committee.

Prisoner discharged.

Resolved, &c. That Colonel Wm. Carr, committed Prisoner for writing a Letter of Affront to Sir Arth. Hesilrig, wherein he violates the Privilege of the House, upon his humble Petition, expressing his Sorrow for giveing any Offence to this House, or any Member thereof; professing, that it was out of his Ignorance of the Privileges; be forthwith discharged from any further Restraint or Imprisonment.

Army.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Four associated Counties of Sussex, Surry, &c. do, this Afternoon, meet with the Committee of the West, to consider of some things of absolute Necessity for Sir Wm. Waller's March: And the Members of both these Committees are enjoined, peremptorily, to meet upon this Business, this Afternoon, at Three of Clock, in the Star Chamber.

Isle of Wight.

It is further referred to this Committee to consider of the humble Petition of several Gentlemen, Ministers, and others the Inhabitants of the Isle of Wight; and of the Names presented from the Committee of both Kingdoms, to be Committees of the Isle of Wight; and of the Information given concerning one Reade: And are to confer with the Earl of Pembroke, about the providing for the Safety of that Island.

Committee of both Kingdoms.

Ordered, That the Members of this House, that were of the Committee of both Kingdoms, or any Three of them, shall have Power from time to time, to open the Letters directed unto that Committee; and present their Opinions to this House, upon Occasion: And shall meet at Derby House, as formerly: And are to acquaint the Scotts Commissioners with those Letters.

Message to Lords.

Lord Grey went up to the Lords, to desire them to expedite the Ordinance concerning the Committee of both Kingdoms, returned, with some Amendments, to the Lords: And the Ordinance for Exclusion of such Members of either . . . . without the Consent of both, as have deserted the Parliament.

Persons from Plymouth.

Ordered, That the Examination of the Business, concerning the Gentlemen that are come up from Plymouth, be referred to the Consideration of the Committee for Gloucester: And they are to meet upon it To-morrow, at Three post Meridiem, in the Star Chamber.

Lieutenant Governor of Portesmouth.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth give Leave to Wm. Jephson Esquire, a Member of this House, to be Lieutenant Governor of the Town of Portesmouth, under the Earl of Essex Lord General.

Proceedings against Plunkett, &c.

Ordered, That Captain Thomas, Captain Plunkett, and Captain Williams, be forthwith examined upon Oath, in the Court of Admiralty; and, upon their Refusal, that the Court do proceed with them according to the usual and ordinary Course of that Court, in such Case of Contempt.

Resolved, &c. That Captain Plunkett be forthwith sent for in safe Custody; and so kept, till the House take further Order.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Navy do write unto the Lord Admiral, to appoint another to take the Charge of the Ship, Captain Plunkett formerly had the Charge of.

Clerke's Goods.

Resolved, &c. That the Goods of Mr. Christopher Clerke, late Mayor of Exon, taken in the Topsham Ships, shall be restored unto him.

Prize Goods.

Resolved, &c. That all Prize Goods shall be left to the Proceedings of the Court of the Admiralty.

Resolved, &c. That, upon the Sale of such Prize Goods, as shall be adjudged by the Court of Admiralty, Caution shall be taken, that the Monies, arising out of the Proceed of such Goods, may be deposited till the House take further Order; to the end, that Relief may be afforded to such well-affected Persons, as shall be so adjudged by this House.

Resolved, &c. That the Thirds of such Goods, as belong to the Captains and Mariners, shall not be delivered, until such Captains and Mariners have been examined, and hath given Satisfaction concerning the Goods that are wanting.

Jones', &c. Petition.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of Colonel Sam. Jones, and Thomas Thinne of London, be referred to the Consideration of the Committee appointed for Relief of such well affected Persons, whose Goods are taken by the Parliament Ships.

Assessing Members.

Ordered, That the Committee for assessing Members of the House, where Mr. Trenchard has the Chair, be revived and * * * *

Jesson's Assessment.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Jesson shall be referred to the Committee at Haberdashers Hall, to consider what he has done upon the Propositions; and to assess him for his Twentieth Part, if they shall see Cause: And that, what shall arise from this Assessment, shall be paid upon Account to the Lord Greye, towards the Satisfaction of the Five hundred Pounds formerly assigned to him.

Baron Hilton's Creditors.

Ordered, That the Ordinance for securing the Creditors of Baron Hilton's Money, be read the First Business To-morrow.
