PRAYERS.

Trinity College.

ORDERED, That the Committee for the Ordinance from the Earl of Manchester, and the Letter and Petition concerning Trinity College, do meet To-morrow at Two post Meridiem, in the Exchequer Chamber.

Trial of Gifford.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Examination of Serjeant Major Gifford do hasten their Proofs, to the end, that the said Major Gifford may be brought to a speedy Trial.

Assembly of Divines.

Resolved, &c. That Sir Rob. Harley be added to the Committee of the Assembly of Divines, in the Place of Mr. Pym, deceased.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Saint Martin's in the Fields Vicarage.

That the Bishop of London be required to present Mr. Strickland to the Vicarage of Saint Martin's in the Fields; become void by the Decease of Dr. Bray.

Letter to Sir Wm. Waller.

Sir Arth. Heselrig and Sir Gilb. Gerard are appointed to prepare a Letter to be written to Sir Wm. Waller, to acknowledge the great Service he has done, and how it has pleased God to bless it with good Success; and likewise, to acknowledge the good Service and Valour of the rest of the Commanders; and likewise, the good Service done by the City Officers and Commanders; and to encourage them in the Perseverance.

Greenvile's Suit.

Whereas there is a Suit depending between Sir Rich. Greenvile, and others, concerning some Lands about Levesham in Kent: It is Ordered, That there be no Wood cut upon those Lands, or carried away; and that, if any be cut, that none of it be carried away: And that Simons, who has cut down his Woods, depending the Suit, be summoned to appear before the Committee, to answer his Fact.

Military Stores.

Ordered, That the Storekeepers, or other Officers of the Tower, do forthwith issue out of the Stores of the Tower One thousand Horse-shoes and Eight thousand Nails to Mr. Trenchard, or his Assignee, for Sir Wm. Waller; he paying for them.

It is further Ordered, That the Officers of the Stores do issue out of their Stores to Mr. Trenchard, or his Assignee, to be sent to Sir Wm. Waller, Three hundred Musquets, Bastard Musquets, and Callivers, Three hundred Swords, One thousand Clubs, Fifty Barrels of Powder, and Four Ton of Match.

Mildmay's, &c. Loan.

Resolved, Whereas Sir H. Mildmay and Mr. Tho. Dacres formerly lent Two hundred Pounds for Sir Wm. Waller, which is now ready to be repaid; they are willing to forbear the said Two hundred Pounds, and to continue the Loan of it, for providing Arms and Saddles for Captain Savile's Troop: And

It is Ordered, That Forty Pounds more be borrowed of the Proceed of the Goods in Mr. Ashe his Hand; and that Sir H. Mildmay and Sir Tho. Dacres shall be repaid the said Two hundred Pounds out of the Remainder of the Goods in Mr. Ashe his Hands, if there be Goods sufficient; if otherwise, that then they shall be repaid within Fourteen Days, out of the Monies at Haberdashers Hall.

Hotham's Petition.

The humble Petition of Captain John Hotham was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That Captain Jo. Hotham be hereby enjoined to declare the Contents of the said Petition to Sir Wm. Strickland, Sir Christ. Yelverton, and the Lieutenant of the Tower.

Preacher thanked.

Ordered, That Mr. Solicitor do return Thanks to Mr. Marshall, for the great Pains he took in his Sermon preached at the Funeral of Mr. Pym; and to desire him to print it.

Sir Alexander Carew.

Mr. Rolle, Mr. Rous, Mr. Erisey, and Serjeant Rolle, have Liberty to visit, and confer with, Sir Alexander Carew, Prisoner in the Tower.

Woxebridge.

An Ordinance for maintaining the Garison of Woxebridge, was this Day read the second Time; and, upon the Question, committed unto Sir Gilb. Gerard, Mr. Recorder, Mr. Wheeler, Mr. Serjeant Wilde, Mr. Bell, Sir Rob. Pye, Sir Jo. Hippisley, Mr. Trenchard, Mr. Whittacre, Alderman Penington, Lieutenant. . . ., the Knights and Burgesses for Herts, Bucks, Middlesex, and London: And are to meet this Afternoon, at Three a Clock, Exchequer Chamber.

Ship Arke.

The humble Petition of Henry Dolling and Wm. Haward, Part Owners of the Ship Arke, was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Navy, to consider of the Petition; and to give Satisfaction to the Petitioners, according to the usual Rate they allow other Ships employed in the Service of the King and Parliament.

Message from the City.

The House being informed that the Sheriffs, and other Aldermen, and divers of the Common Council, were at the Door, and desired to propound something to the House; they were called in: And Mr. Speaker acquainted them, from the House, that they had Liberty to deliver what they had to propound.

Paul's Church.

Ordered, That the Committee for taking away superstitious Monuments do open Paul's Church; and that they shall have Power to remove, out of the said Church, all such Matters as are justly offensive to godly Men: And that there shall be a Lecture set up there, to be exercised every Lord's Day in the Afternoon; to begin when other Sermons usually end; and one Day in the Week.

Resolved, &c. That Dr. Burges shall be Lecturer at Paul's, London, to preach there every Lord's Day in the Afternoon, when other Sermons do usually end, and once in the Week Days; and, that he shall have allowed unto him, for his Pains and Encouragement in those Lectures, Four hundred Pounds per Ann. out of the sequestred Estate of the Dean and Chapter of Paul's, to be paid quarterly.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Ordered, That Dr. Burgesse be enjoined to quit his Living at Wattford, upon his Admission into this Lecture at Paul's; and that none shall be put into that Living, but by the Approbation of this House.

Newport Pagnall Garison.

The Ordinance for settling a Garison at Newport Pagnall, was resumed into Debate: And, upon Ordering the first Month to begin the first of December; and that the Monies levied by this Ordinance shall be expended upon Provision of Ammunition and other incident Charges, as well as for the maintaining of the Garison; the Ordinance was assented unto, upon the Question; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords, for their Concurrence.

Mr. Knightley is appointed to carry it up to the Lords.

Hertford Forces.

An Ordinance for levying of Forces and Monies, and for adding of farther Power to the Committee appointed in an Ordinance of the Fourteenth of September, touching the County of Herts, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, com.... * Dacres, Lieutenant of the Tower, * Solicitor, * Luke, * Recorder, * Harbottle Grimston, * Cage, * Niclas, * Holland, * Tate, * Pime, * Knightley, * Litton, * Clottworthy: And are to meet this Afternoon, at Four of Clock, in the Court of Wards.

Payment to Arthur.

Ordered, That Sir H. Vane jun. Treasurer of the Navy, do forthwith pay unto Captain Arthur Three hundred and Fifteen Pounds, according to a Warrant he has received from the Committee of the Navy.

Answer to City.

The Sheriffs and Aldermen were again called in: And Mr. Speaker, by the Command of the House, acquainted them what the House had done upon the Messages delivered, from the Court of Aldermen, Committee of the Militia, and Common Council, by Alderman Foulke and Alderman Gibbs.

Scotch Reformadoes.

The humble Petition of the Scotch Reformado Officers of Foot was this Day read.

Publick Accounts.

Ordered, That the Reports concerning the Accounts be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning.

Defence of Liverpoole.

Resolved, That five Iron Pieces be delivered, out of the Store, for the better Defence of Liverpoole, to Mr. Asherst, to be conveyed thither by the next Ships that go to Liverpoole; and that my Lord Admiral, or the Committee of the Safety, do grant Warrants for the same accordingly.

Excise in Chester, &c.

Ordered, That the Commissioners of Excise do put in Execution the Ordinance of Excise in Cheshire and Lancashire; and that they be desired to send down Commissions to Sir Wm. Brereton, to appoint such Men as he shall think fit, to put the said Ordinance in Execution in Cheshire: And that Sir Wm. Brereton shall be accountable to the Commissioners of Excise for the Proceed of the Excise in the County of Chester: And that the Deputy Lieutenants in Lancashire, that are Members of this House, do appoint such Men as they shall think fit to be inserted in the Commissions, to put the said Ordinance of Excise in Execution in Lancashire: And that the Deputy Lieutenants be accountable from time to time for the Proceed of the Excise raised in that County.

Victualling the Navy.

Mr. Green reports a Paper, from the Committee of the Navy, of Propositions from the Victuallers of the Navy, to undertake the providing of Victuals for the Summer's Fleet: Which was read; and ordered to be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning: And also the Proposition for the providing of Victuals for Two thousand Men for the Navy.

Soldiers from Ireland.

Mr. Asherst presents the Ordinance for inviting such English Soldiers as come out of Ireland, to serve the Parliament: Which was once read.

Recruiting the Army.

And the House was turned into a Grand Committee, to take into further Consideration the Ordinance for recruiting my Lord General's Army.

Oils seized.

Ordered, That the Eighth Part of the Oils, seized upon as belonging to Mr. Masham, or such Proportion thereof as by Proof shall appear to belong to Mr. John Robinson, Merchant, shall be forthwith restored unto him the said Mr. Robinson; notwithstanding any former Order to the contrary for the Sale or Disposal thereof.
