Leave of Absence.

SIR Ch. Morrison licensed to depart into the Country, for Two or Three Days.

Complaint against Ld. Mohun.

The Committee for examining the Complaint against the now Lord Mohun, to have Power, upon the Complaint now made, to examine his unlawful imprisoning Men, as a Justice of Peace.

Member admitted.

Mr Grymes having been sick ever sithence the Beginning of the Parliament, and having now taken his Oath, and received the Communion in Presence of Two Members of this House, though none of the Committees, licensed to come into the House.

Privilege.

James Elcocke, Servant to Sir Edw. Dennys, to have Privilege; and Wm. Barrett and Tho. Hopkinson to be sent for, to answer their Contempt in arresting him.

Conference.

Mr. Attorney General and Sir Edw. Salter bring from the Lords a Message, to desire a present Conference between both Houses in the Painted Chamber ; the Cause thereof being somewhat, which hath fallen out, upon Debate in their House, whereby, they hope, the Debate will be shortened in both Houses, in some Things.

Answer returned by the same Messengers : We will give a present Conference, as is desired.

The Committee to have Power now only to hear, and report.

The same Reporters : And they to go first out.

Mr. Selden spared : Mr. Glanvyle added.

Low's Estate.

L. 3a. An Act for the Amendment of a Word, casually mistaken, and miswritten, in an Act of Parliament, made in the Session of Parliament, holden at Westmynster, on the 19th Day of February, 21o Jac. intituled, An Act to enable Vincent Low, of Denby in the County of Derby, Esquire, to sell Part of his Lands, for Payment of his Debts : - Upon Question, passed.

Petition of Right.

Sir Edw. Coke reporteth from the Conference with the Lords. -

Lord Keeper first delivered their Desire of Correspondence with this House. 2. That the Lords agreed to all Parts of our Petition, and waved all their Alterations, except the Word " Pretext," and the Word " unlawful." 3. Reasons to alter that last Word :

1. It was too high, and too rigid. Unlawful may be against the Law of God, Nature, and Reason. 2ly, It may be understood against the Law divine and moral. That they will, instead of " new and unlawful," change it to, " an Oath, not warranted," or, "warrantable" by the Laws or Statutes of this Realm." - Desired Expedition.

House to sit.

If we would sit this Afternoon, they would : Desired to know our Mind in that.

Resolved, To sit this Afternoon. And that Message sent to the Lords by Mr. Treasurer.

Charge against Manwaring.

The Committee for drawing up the Charge against Dr. Manwaring, hath Power to send for any Records, they shall think fitting.

Recusants.

The Knights and Burgesses of Lincolneshyre to subscribe their Names to the Presentment of Recusants in Authority, or Trust.

Petition of Rights.

Upon Question, the Word, " unlawful," to be changed into the Words, "not warrantable by the Laws or Statutes"of this Realm."

House to sit &c.

Ordered, The House shall sit this Afternoon, Three Clock, and the Addition to be then taken into Consideration ; and all the Members of the House then to attend.

ORDERED, The House shall be presently resolved into a grand Committee, to consider of the Addition propounded to our Petition of Right.

Message from Lords.

Mr. Attorney General, and Sir Ch. Caesar bring from the Lords a Message ; That they have sitten, and dispatched all their Business ; yet are willing to sit still, if we think it of Use to us ; else desire to adjourn, if not likely to have a Conference.

Answer.

Answer returned ; That we will return Answer by Messengers of our own; and are in hope we shall be shortly ready for a Conference : If we shall not, we will, before long, send them word so.

Petition of Right.

Mr. Noy reporteth to the House, from the grand Committee, that they have, una voce, resolved to decline the further Debate of this Addition.

Ditto.

A Message to the Lords, that we are ready for a present free Conference. This to be done by Mr. Treasurer.

In the Conference Sir Edw. Coke to certify the Lords, our Agreement to the Alteration, from " unlawful," to "not warrantable by the Laws,"&c,

Mr. Noy to propound our Reasons to the Lords, of our not agreeing to this Addition ; and Mr. Glanvyle to assist Mr. Noy.

Sir Edw. Coke reporteth from the Conference, that himself, and Mr. Noy, having discharged their Duties, the Lords have retired to their House, and, if we will sit a while ....

Committee for Continuance and Repeal of Statutes, - To-morrow in the Afternoon, in the Duchy Chamber.

Committee for Arms, - Thursday, Two Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber.

The Committee, for Examination of the new Book of Rates, to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, in the former Place.
