Turky Merchants.

THE Committee for the Turky Merchants, to sit To-morrow in the Afternoon, in the former Place; and all the Merchants of the House added.

Counsel.

Mr. Anth. Low spared from being of Counsel with Mr. Lownes.

Cornewayle Election.

Upon Question, no new Day to be given to the Gentlemen of Cornewayle, to be heard with their Counsel before the Committee.

Freeze's, &c. Nat.

Mr. Freeze and Mr. Levingston's Bills of Naturalization reported, without any Amendment at all.

Privilege - Persons committed, &c.

Upon Question, the Gentlemen to be heard by Counsel presently in the House, concerning their Contempt Persons to the House, either in their Letters, or Petition. They called in, and heard by their Counsel; and then heard, what they could say for themselves.

1. Upon Question, Mr. Langdon and Mr. John Trelawney to stand committed to the Tower, for their Offence in their Letters, and for their Contempt in their Petition; there to remain, during the Pleasure of the House, and not to be discharged, without Acknowlegement of their Offence.

2. Upon Question, Sir Wm. Wray and Mr. . . Trelawney to stand committed to the Serjeant; there to remain, during the Pleasure of the House, and not to be discharged till they have acknowleged their Offence to this House.

3ly, Upon Question, whether all these Four Gentlemen to make such Recognition of their Offence about the . . . at the next Assises, to be holden for the County of

Cornewayle, as this House shall appoint; this Question being twice put, the Voice doubtful; the House divided:

Ly. Nevyll's Jointure.

Sir Ch. Caesar and Sir Edw. Salter, bring from the Lords Bill, intituled, An Act for Assurance of a Jointure to Dame Frances, Wife of Sir Tho. Nevyll Knight, Son and Heir apparent of Sir H. Nevyll Knight, Lord Burgaveny, and to enable the same Lord, and Sir Tho. to sell certain Lands, for Payment of their Debts, and Preferment of their younger Children.

Privilege - Persons committed.

The Four Gentlemen of Cornewayle called in, and committed, kneeling at the Bar, their Judgment pronounced unto them by Mr. Speaker.

Petition of Right.

The Debate concerning the Business Yesterday reported from the Conference, begun. Conference.

Ordered, To go on with the Alterations of the Petition.

This to be done by a Committee of the whole House, presently; which is to take Consideration of the Petition, and of the Alterations thereof. Mr. Herberte in the Chair.

Ditto.

A Message from the Lords, by Mr. Attorney, Mr. Serjeant Damport; That the Lords desire a Conference between the Committee of both Houses, concerning the great Matters conferred on Yesterday, at Three of the Clock this Afternoon, in the Painted Chamber, if this House shall be then ready for it.

Answer returned by the Messengers; That this House cannot be ready by Three Clock, for a Conference about the Matters Yesterday conferred upon, but that we will give them further knowlege in convenient Time.

Ordered, Mr. Speaker shall be here again at Four Clock.

Committee.

All the Lawyers of the House to come to the Committee of Mr. Lownes' Bill.

All Committees, but this grand Committee to cease this Afternoon.

Petition of Right.

Mr. Speaker being set; Mr. Herberte reporteth from the grand Committee, that the Opinion thereof, that the First Alteration, of the Word "Pretext," for " Means," to be left to the Discretion of the Committee; the other Six Alterations resolved not to be accepted.

Upon Question, the Select Committee, viz. Sir Edw. Coke, Sir Nath. Rich. Sir D. Digges, Mr. Selden, Mr. Rolles, Mr. Littleton, Mr. Whitby, Sir H. Martyn, Sir Jo. Ellyott, Mr. Pymme, Mr. Noy, to have Power to maintain, by Reasons, our Petition, otherwise than according to said Opinion of the grand Committee, as formerly sent up to the Lords; and that, if any Reasons used by the Lords to the contrary, which this Committee shall think fit, then they shall report the same to the House.

Message from the King - Subsidy.

Mr. Secretary putteth the House in mind, from his Majesty, that this the Day appointed for End of this Session; and that some Things having happened sithence, to defer it, his Majesty yet lets us know, that, if we do not speedily proceed with the Subsidy, we shall hear from him shortly.
