The testament of Richard Baker [of Fishtoft].

7 May, 1531. I Richerd Baker, of the parysh of st Guthlake of Tofte makes my testament concludyng in it my last will. My body to be buryed in the church yerde of st Guthlak. For my mortuary that the lawe and kynges acts shall require. To the blessyd sacrament ther for tithys forgotten iiijd. To the good and proffitable workes off our Lady of Lincoln iiijd. To st Catheryns ther ijd. To the churche warkes of Tofte iiijd. To Steven Baker my sonne a yong balde meyr and a scheder callfe. To John Baker my sonne. To Jenet and Agnes Baker my doughtters. To Alice my wyff my carte and my plough with all the harnes belongyng to the same the terme of her lyff, and aftyr her decesse my carte with the harnes to remayn to Stevyn my sonne and the plough with the harness to John [folio 396d.] my sonne. To Alice my wyff my house standyng in Landerthorpe and ij acres pasture lying vnder it, and a acre arable lande lying one the Gayste the terme of her lyff, and aftyr her decesse the house with the ij acres pasture lying vnder it to remayn to Stephyn Baker my sonne, hys heyres, and assygnes. To John Baker my sonne aftyr the decesse of hys mother an acre of arable lande lying on the Gaste, to hym hys heyres of hys body. [Remainder] to Stevyn my sonne, to hym hys heyres of hys body; [remainder] to the nexte heyr of me Richerde Baker for ever. The resydue of all my goodes I gyff them to Alice my wyffe, to pay my legaces my dettes and for to dispose for the helthe of my soule and all my good frendes soulys as she shall thynke best to the pleas' of God and the helthe of my soule and Thomas Romforthe to be supervisor. The testament of William Foster [of Boultham].

8 May, 1531. I William Foster of the paryshyng of Bultham makes my testament and last will. My body to be buryed in the chyrch or church yerde of st Helene in Bultham. To the high altare for tithynges forgottyn viijd. To the iiij orders of frerys in Lincoln viijd. each. To our Lady warke of Lincoln viijd. To Johanne my doughter. To John Sawer. To Isabell Foster. The resydue of my goodes I gyff to Margaret my wyff and John and Robert my sonnys, whome I make my executors, and they to dispose my goodes for the helthe of my soule, at the syght of master Robert Sutton esquyer the supervisor. Thes beyng wytnes, sir Robert Gawber curet; John Craven; Xp'ofer Sawer; and John Walys.

The testament of Helene Metcalff [of Swinhope].

16 May, 1531. I Helene Metcalffe of Swynhope, vido, makyth my laste testament. My body to be buryd in the churche yerde of st Helene of Swynhope. To the altare of Swynhope xijd. To sir Richerde Thomlynson parson vjs. viijd. To our Ladys warke off Lincoln xijd. To Richerde Metcalve my sun a mayzar and all my coppys in Bymbroke, and to every one of hys chylder. To Jenet Howton, Isabell Howton, Alice Day, Beatrix Day, Walter Day, Helene Gonerley. The resydue of all my goodes I gyff them to Richerde Howton, whome I make my executor, and he to have for hys labor vjs. viijd., and Thomas Lysone supervisor, and he to have for hys labor vjs. viijd. Thes wytnes, sir Richerde Thomlynsone parson; Thomas Lyson; Thomas Thomlynson; Richerde Howtton; Walter Day; with other mo.

The testament of W. Bucknall [of Canwick].

20 May, 1531. I William Bucknall of Canwyk next Lincoln, seke in body, make and orden this my last will and testament. My body to be buryed in the churche of All Halloys in Canwyk. To the high altare of Canwyk for my tithis forgottyn xijd. and one quarter of barly. I bequeth v acre of berly to the sayd churche. To Fyskerton churche halffe a quarter of barly. To our Lady warke in Lincoln xijd. To the Gray frerys halffe a quarter of malte and one stryke of barly. To the other iij orders of frerys every order one stryke of barly. To the chylder of the barne house (fn. 1) halffe a quarter of barly. I bequeth a yeryng calffe to the paryshyng of Canwyk to make them a commune bull off. To Thomas Buknall sonne of Fyskerton. To the Gray frere the wiche was my gostly father xs. for to do a trentall of messes in Canwyk churche for my soule and all crysten soules. To Will' Dabney the elder. I will that a quarter of malte shall be brewyd and iiij dosyn bred and iiij stonys of chese to be delte for my soule in Canwyk churche. To Thomas Bucknall my brother, whome I make my executor, vij acre of pease, one acre of wheate to that intente that he shulde take the resydue of my goodes and bryng up my chylder to they be at laufull age. And then he to delyver them ther barne partes. I make William Dabney the elder supervisor. Wytnes, sir Richerde Harwe my gostly father; William Wynter; Jamys Symnyll; with other moy.

The testament of Robert Musgraue [of Caythorpe].

21 May, 1531. I Robert Musgrave of Cathorpe make and orden this my testament and last will. My body to be buryed in the parysh churche of st Vincent in Cathorpe. To my lady Jane Hussy ij bullokes which I boroyd of her, and one cowe the best in my yerde. To mr Fokyngham ij stagges, j red sorrylde with a whyte face trottyng and a blake amblyng, and a blake velvet dooblet wich is with Robert Huchynson within thre myle of Beuerlay, [etc.]. To William Cooke. To masterys Isabell. To our mother churche of Lincoln xijd. To the vicar of Halton a bawsand nage. To sir Rawff Parker a pare of beades with a domme, [etc.]. The resydue of my goodes I bequeth to Dorothe my wyff, Jane and Anne my doughters, whome I make my executors. I make mr Cristofer Bothe to be supervisor. Yeven at Cathorpe. Thes wytnesses, sir Rawff Parker curate; mr Thomas Fokyngham; Anthony Swynton; William Coke; and other moy.

Proved before P., at Castr', 19 April, 1532. Administration granted to Dorothy the relict, reserving power to grant to Joan and Anne the daughters when they come to lawfull age.

The testament of Robert Elward [of Gedney].

I Robert Elwarde of Gedney makes thys my last will and testament. My body to be buryed in the church yerde of Gedney. For my mortuary accordyng unto the actes of the parliament. To the high altare off Gedney for forgottyn tithys xijd. To our Lady warkes of Lincoln xijd. To the pore [folio 240] chyldren of st Catheryns vjd. To every light within the sayd churche of Gedney jd. To the churchwarke of Gedney vjs. viijd.

Thys is the last will of me the forsayd Robert. To Richerd my sonne my hed house with vij acres of arable grounde lying underneth it be it more or lesse, he to have it immediatly aftyr the departyng off Margaret my wyff to hym and to hys heyres of hys body lawfully begottyn; also vj acres of pasture grounde lying beneth the forsayd vij acres, to hym and to hys heyres of hys body. To John my sonne my house that sumtyme was Godfray Dynyells with iiij acres of arable ground underneth it be it more or les, to hym and to hys heyres of hys body lefully cumyng, aftyr the decease of my wyff; also ten acres of pasture grounde lying by Gedney Crosse be it more or lesse, to hym and to hys heyres of hys body lefully cumyng, aftyr the decease of my wyff. To Thomas my sonne viij acres of pasture grounde lying in Byllys Hurne to hym and to hys heyres of hys body, aftyr the decease of my wyff. I will that Richerd and John my sonnes gyff Agnes my doughter every one of them xxs. within a twelmonthe and one day aftyr that they cum to ther landes. I will that Richerd and John my sonnes gyff Margaret my doughter every on of them xxs. within too yers after they cum to ther landes. I will that yff anny of my iij sonnys departe withowt issue of ther bodyes lefully cumyng, I will that hys landes that is departed be devydyd betwyxt the other too that be alyff. And yff Richerd or John departe without issue of ther bodyes before ther mother, then I will the other too beyng alyff have hys landes equally devydyd, that is departyd betwyxte them, so that Richard or John whether it be pay to Agnes and Margaret my doughters every one of them xxs. as is before namyd, and also halffe of hys brother parte by the reason that he cum to halffe of hys brother house and landes, and the other to pay the other halffe, that is to say every one of them xxs. within the twelmonthe and a day to Agnes and Margaret then beyng a lyff as is before rehersyd. I will that yff Richerde my sonne and [folio 240d.] John departe thys worlde withowt issue of ther bodyes lefully cuming, then I will that Thomas my sonne beyng a lyff have all hys brothers housys and landes, he to pay hys systers Agnes and Margaret then beyng a lyff every one of them xls. as rehersyd afore, and also to fynde a good and a honest preste for to pray for me and my good frendes for the space of halff yere in the church of our Lady in Gedney within the space of ij yeres aftyr that he cum to hys housys and landes, or ellys I will that the church masters of Gedney beyng at the same tyme shall sell viij acres of pasture grounde that the forsayd Thomas shulde have, lying in Byllys Hurne, for to dispose for me and my good frendes in celebratyng within the churche of Gedney. Yff Agnes or Margaret departe withowt issue of ther bodyes before ther mother departe, then I will that the xls. that she shulde have had that is departyd be disposyd in celebratyng of a good and a honest prest within the church of Gedney. And yff that Agnes and Margaret departe owt of thys worlde bothe before ther mother withowt issue of ther bodyes, then I will that the sylver that they shulde have had be disposyd in celebratyng of a good and a honest prest within the church of Gedney for me and my goode frendes. I will that yff Richerde, John and Thomas departe withowt heyres of ther bodys, then I will that Agnes and Margaret my doughters then beyng alyff have all my housys and landes equally devydyd betwyxt them, and they to fynde a preste to pray for me and my good frendes by the space of halff a yere. I will that yff other of them departe withowt heyres of ther bodys, the other that is a lyff to have all my housys and landes, [folio 241] she to fynde a prest as is afore namyd. Yff Agnes and Margaret my doughters departe thys worlde withowt heyres of ther bodys, then I will that all my housys and landes that I have besolde by the churchwardens of Gedney beyng at that tyme, and the money theroff cumyng to be disposyd in celebratyng of a good and honest preste for me and my good frendes within the church of Gedney so long as it lastes. The resydue of my goodes I gyff unto my wyff, she to bryng me honestly forthe, whome I make executrix, and John Day supervisor, he to have for hys labor vjs. viijd. I will that mr prior with hys brethren do receyve me as a brother, and to have for ther labor iijs. iiijd. To our Lady of Lincoln iiijd. To our Ladys warkes ijd. To the high altare of Freston xijd. To st Jamys light ijd. To our Lady of Grace iiijd. To John Lawes an acre lande and a halff lying in Grew felde, and one acre lying in Mylne Crofte in fe symple. To William Dennys a one acre callyd Willo Lande in Schorte furlonges, and thre stong callyd Ellys Lande, and halff one acre callyd Water Grafte in fee symple. To Isabell Skyrbek one acre and a halff lying at Bardeney Pyttes callyd Pollery, and an acre lying in Ted Crofte felde. To John Lawes halff an acre callyd Emry Ryg in fee symple. To Isabell Skyrbek. To the Trinite gylde halff an acre lande callyd Kytchyn Ryg yff the lawe will admyt it, and yff the law willnot admyt my executors to take it and to pay yerely the rent to the sayd gylde for lxxxix yeres.
