All moneys assessed in County of Huntington on persons that have; not contributed according to their ability to be used for maintenance of Forces in said County.
Whereas the Lords and Commons in this present Parliament,
Have made an Ordinance for the speedy Raising and Leavying
of Money throughout the Kingdome of England, and Dominion
of Wales, for the Reliefe of the Common-wealth, by Taxing such
as have not at all Contributed, or lent, or not according to their
Estates and Abilities; And whereas the County of Huntington,
being a Frontier County of the Association of Cambridge, and
having in it severall considerable Passages into the said Association, cannot be secured without a constant Force of Horse and
Foot, the charge whereof cannot be maintained by the voluntary
Contribution of the well affected Party, and weekly Tax of the
said County, without their utter impoverishment, The said
Lords and Commons doe therefore Ordaine, That such summe
and summes of Money as are, or shall be Assessed upon such
Person and Persons as are of Ability, and have not contributed
and lent; And have contributed and lent, yet not according to
their abilities, by vertue of the said Ordinance in the County
of Huntington, shall be employed to the use and for the maintaining of the Forces aforesaid, and for the discharging other
necessary Incidents in the said County, And that all such summes
of Money so Assessed, and rated as aforesaid, as shall be received
by the Collectors nominated for that purpose, shall be paid by
the said Collectors to such Treasurers as shall be appointed by
the Committees named in the said Ordinance for the County of
Huntington, or any three, or more of them; And that the said
Treasurers shall dispose of the same to the uses aforesaid, upon
Warrant directed to them under the hands of the LordLievtenant, or Deputy-Lievtenants of the said County, or any
two or more of them.
Power to Lord Lieutenant and Deputies over such Forces.
And it is further Ordained, That by vertue hereof the LordLievtenant, and Deputy-Lievtenants of the said County, or any
two or more of them, shall have full power and authority, to
Leavy, Raise, Lead, Conduct, and imploy such Forces as shall be
necessary for the foresaid service.
